Ill have to check into it, the external HDD’s are the biggest draw, everything else should be minimal.

Glad to see bots are still ruining anyone's chance at getting a 3070 lol

not that it will be any different for AMD GPU's unless their stock is truly something spectacular

As fun as it is to just blame Nvidia, quite a bit of the blame has to go to the retailers as well. EVGA and Bestbuy are the only ones who seemingly did anything to stop the bots. EVGA with their "waitlist" thing. Bestbuy at least released in waves over a bit and seemed like quite a few real people were able to snag cards. But bestbuy's site also ended up having issues. I know I got a card in my cart but it had said no shipping and no in store pickup...so yeah lol. And quite a few other people reported the same.

Newegg on the other hand....LOL gone in 60 seconds (or less) on the whole supply.

Retailers like Newegg have no motivation to improve their front end shop. Honestly they could send a box with a giant "fuck you," on the side to every customer and they'd still be the largest computer part e-retail.

The only companies that are making an effort want to grow or have brick and mortar retails where people could cause issues. Bestbuy, EVGA, Microcenter, and Memory Express (Canada) all put procedures in place right after the 3080 launch to help the situation. Newegg could honestly give two shits, they want a 60 second sellout to the bots. From their perspective it doesn't hurt them, only the consumer and fuck the consumer.

I'll save the blame for nVidia IF we see AMD drop a pile of 6000 series cards on launch day. A quiet story has been forgotten. nVidia chose to save a couple of dollars and use Samsung 8 nm exclusively for their 3000 series cards. At least for now. They could of done some cards at TSMC on 7 nm for slightly more money but when TSMC didn't budge on price they went all Samsung on a relatively unproven node for the volumes nVidia ordered. In effect, nVidia chose a source that couldn't supply the market for the sake of profits. If AMD doesn't have the same issues the blame will point back to nVidia, though that is a big if.

O you damn well best believe if I was newegg I wouldn't care either lol.

Microcenter screwed up the 3070 (least the us portion). Let there be online at orders when there shouldn't have been so it's sounding ng like tons of canceled orders when people thought they had one

But it's interesting being on the outside looking at how things are going I'm sure those trying to get a card are much more upset then me!

Wow that sucks. I had assumed they did the same thing they did earlier and had not allowed online orders.

I'm sure it was an oops. Something they show online but only for store like they do for a lot of things. Someone just toggled it to allow online orders. Also sounds like it only happened if you searched by sku and not 3070

Memory express fucked up too because they botched the online orders, unless you personally know someone that works at mem express you sure as shit weren't getting a 3000 series card.

I got one from them. I don't know anyone there except by email?

I do know they stopped 3080 backorders because they're about 6,000 behind. 3090s they are slowly catching up though because there is less demand. That's also why for the 3070 they aren't starting backorders until November 1 online. You can backorder one right in store though, just no gaurantee how far back you'll be but they guy I spoke with to reserve my 3090 let me know how far back I was when I ordered.

Edit: I'll also add they haven't even caught up on the 3080 original walk in orders. For the week or so that they didn't do backorders over the phone they did accept cash in hand for backorders in store. They aren't even through that. The 6,000 number is what I was told by an employee. They have way more demand than the orders they put in which put them to the back of the cue with one of their wholesalers, though I also heard that's improving now. They don't know how many are bots but you have to pickup in store within 48 hours which at least slows the bot owners down.

That just makes me glad that I walked into BB (which I hate but had no other option) to purchase my 2070 super at $400 ($100 off). I could not refuse that price. The last one they had in stock at the time.

When you look at the grafts of all the latest video cards from the NVIDIA 1070 to the 3090 and the same with the AMD ones the difference between price and quality is not as much as you would expect.

You would expect paying 10 times as much you would get a card that would give you 10 times the performance but its more like 10 times the price for a 2% in performance increase.

    Wut?

The 1070 to 3090 MSRP is a lot more than that. I get what you're saying. Staying one generation behind saves some dough at the expense of, at most, 20-30% frame loss. It's all about buying smart if you're trying to save money just like anything else. The 3090 is probably the worst example since, for gaming, it's 10% more card than the 3080 at double the cost. The 3070 though is the 2080Ti at half the price. A little better than 2% increase.
