Mail has been having issues since DeJoy wanted trucks to leave the processing facilities on time. Many trucks were having to leave empty. Here in central Texas we have gotten lucky, the impact was not as bad as other states. UPS and FedEx are not any better, I have had packages lost in all 3. Most delays I've had were with UPS.

Shouldn't you want the trucks to leave on time? 20% of ALL the hours at the USPS were overtime hours. That means that either the workers aren't doing their jobs, or the systems need to be adjusted and more people hired. There should be very minimal overtime, plus the benefits of the USPS are the best around, and its the only pension on the planet that is pre-funded for 75 years so the employees are guaranteed they will get ALL their benefits no matter what.

USPS used to send mostly letters, but its been quickly shifting to small to medium packages and those are much more profitable per item/manhours than a 50 cent letter ever was.

I got my fob from Meso less than 36 hours after ordering and that's faster than Amazon who is the king of logistics.

Everyone agrees that they should aim to leave on time consistently, the problem arises when they are sending off empty trucks to post offices. That just means everything is getting delayed to the next day to get the truck out of the facility on time, which makes no logical sense. That just accumulates the workload and creates more overtime. Also there's two types of carriers. Rural and City, majority of the overtime is created by the city carrier. They get paid by the hour, now rural carriers get paid evaluated route hours. USPS also has an issue with turnover, they are having a hard time keeping new employees.

maybe it's just my city but my USPS service has been fantastic. i even took a gamble and mailed my ballot in and got the email saying it was received and counted by the registrar the same week.

Well, maybe they need to lay off underperforming city carriers and fix whatever reason the trucks are leaving empty. Do you think Amazon or UPS has trucks leaving empty?

Getting better employees, even if they cost a little more, would make sense. No one should accept that 20% overtime for the entire USPS is anywhere near acceptable. That's just bad management, but bad management is generally the biggest issue with businesses.

Yeah, my USPS is damned near instant. I toss packages into the pre-paid postage bin and the tracking numbers show up within hours.

Also, MESO's USPS must pretty good as well.

Mine are still sitting in some sorting facility here in Denver. Maybe today? I will give it till the weekend and file a complaint if they don't show. Totally sucks.

Would you want a concrete mixer to leave a quarry, regardless of if it was filled just to hold a schedule? It would be pretty useless at a job site without product inside, no?

Dejoy isn’t trying to fix the USPS, he’s trying to undermine it so that it can be used as a scapegoat and ultimately justify privatization. People that villainize pensions are [typically] just mad they don't have one. Those employees put their time in and deserve the payout at the end.

I try and get them shipped out as quick as possible but unfortunately once they leave my hands it’s up to USPS to be competent in their job:(

That's one of the reasons why he was named PMG. They have been trying to privatize the post office for a while. The post office is not really a business, it's a service. Rural communities would be the first to feel the pain of losing USPS. The reality of things is that USPS goes to every address in the country 6 days a week, even if it's not profitable. The pricing of USPS also keeps other logistics companies on check, compare prices to FedEx and UPS.

USPS is terrible. Mine said out for delivery for over 2 days before it finally showed up today.

    My weaksauce Flip Fob review.

I have been envying flip fobs since I saw the first ones on VWs ages ago. The integrated key for the Taco was as nice as that gets, but the flippers have always been cool to me. It jabbed at me a bit more when the Mazda that we got for our daughter had a flip fob also.

For the @MESO Flip Fob, it has been a pleasure to use this thing over the past couple days. It has a solid action and feel and accomplishes the no-pokey-in-the-pocket. The tight tolerances are pretty impressive.

The assembly was all too easy.

My only absolutely low-ranking comment would be that it seems that the blade could be turned 90deg. Just because that would give a natural alignment with the key slot in the ignition barrel. But, I completely understand why this is not practical. It would make the fob bigger since it has to fit our existing remote guts, which are tightly packed in the fob shell.

    Great stuff all around though.

    Thanks!

    Oh yeah. Just enjoyable movies.

Ah! :santa2: I'm not a big fan of Casey Affleck and Scott Caan, but they were excellent in the series.

Went to assemble mine and I’m missing both key ring/opener pieces.

not worried, I know I’ll get taken care of. I guess I’ll have to wait a bit longer to use mine.

Well, if the mixing plant is offline they don't send out trucks at all, but other shippers have to be there to pick things up on a schedule. They ship things both ways. Planes leave empty all the time because they have other routes to run. There is still Mail waiting to be picked up.

The idea that they should just hold the truck because there is a slowdown elsewhere is just wrong in every sense of logistics. You need to fix whatever is the holdup, not put a band-aid on it by slowing everything else down and running up overtime.

Good luck with your conspiracy theories, just make sure the snake people don't find out you have decoded their secret messages or they will send an asp-assin your way.

The USPS IS privatized. Its a public-private partnership and the Federal Government does not fund the postal service. They only money the post office gets is from the stamps you buy.

The pensions of the postal employees are literally the safest pensions on the planet. They are pre-funded for 75 years by the post office, its the reason that the post office is in the red. No other business or government entity in America funds pensions this way. Their retirements are very very secure. I absolutely think they should get paid for what they work, but I don't see any rational reason that 20% overtime hours is acceptable and that needs to stop. Just because the management is too stupid to get the schedules right doesn't mean its the fault of the front line workers.

That being said, my USPS guys are lightning fast. I mailed my ballot in and 36 hours later I got an email confirmation that it was received. My MESO customs crap arrived in 48 hours. I have never had an issue with the USPS and they are my preferred way to ship packages. They pick up priority mail for free. The USPS is the best deal going in shipping.
