Beautiful area but getting expensive. Utah was on my list of places to live. I had a vendor I used to have to go to in a suburb north of SLC and it was always a cool place to visit.

yeah this is my neighborhood now and it’s pretty comparable. Just linked a random house. Def not “cheap” though. Compared to where I grew up nothing is cheap

I've only visited but it gets real winter and the surrounding areas get real winter and it's not a short period of time either. So if you're a fair weather person for outdoor activities like hiking, biking, camping, etc you'll have a very short season to do so. Otherwise learn some of those activities in the snow and do other snow sports. I really like Utah and a lot of those states out there for visiting purposes only. It's pretty and cool places to go and some nice BLM land to go play with some freedom sticks. They don't call lots of the west like that the high deserts for nothing. To each there own but I like seeing many different trees, dense forests, and a warmer climate.

Some bonuses
Moab, Arches, Yellowstone, Sand Hollow, BLM areas, Canyonlands, CO is not far, Hot Springs, and many more places to explore in a much more reasonable driving distance.

 

Are the schools as good what about the taxes?

 

Those are both good questions, I think the schools in my neighborhood are good but I have never worried about it because I don’t have kids lol.. let’s just say in my 5 minutes of research the housing prices don’t look to crazy different. I need to look more into everything for sure

 

Do you plan on converting to Mormanism? If you aren't one, be prepared to be hated against...I've heard if you aren't "one of them" you'll have a miserable time living there...

 

That house covers a 4700sq ft 5 bedroom house about 5 minutes from my hut on 2 acres...

I don’t know what my southern family would think if I converted to Mormon so that’s probably going to be a no lol. I didn’t have to deal with it much when I visited but it was always seeing my buddies up towards summit county which I don’t think has a large Mormon population idk

Not really true. I guess it used to be like that not anymore. They do still tend to give the good jobs to each other. The city and surrounding area is so diverse now that being a Mormon or not really isn't a factor.

It's like being a non christian or even non religious in the south.
