Coming up on 14 months and haven’t heard of any updates. Sent a couple emails since April but no response. Hope everything’s alright!

Hey, Folks--any idea what it costs to ship a drifter to CO? I found the discussion a few months back about the cost to get it installed locally, but I don't see any info on how to estimate the freight charges. Anyone gotten a quote?

I would recommend just making the drive. I know you wouldn't be asking if it was an easy trip. I'm sure freight shipping is possible but I haven't heard of Vagabond arranging it. I made the drive from Denver and stopped just short of the shop the first day. Then, I looped back through the desert with the new camper. It was a quick drive home too given the unseasonable amount of snow but got to see some stuff I don't get to see too often (Death Valley, etc.).

To my knowledge, they haven't shipped a Drifter anywhere yet.

I think what one person did was ship his truck to the shop, it got installed, he flew there and drove it back home.

Phil told me the drifter was a very inefficient size to ship so they urged people to make the drive.

i spoke with phil the other day and he was talking about this, its cheaper to ship your truck to them than it is to ship the drifter out (and have it installed) by a lot (and you fly and drive home)

I want my Drifter! I want it every day! Now that being said, this lockdown has been a curse and an opportunity. I wanted the goosegear rear seat delete but totaly struggled with the price. I created one and absolutely love it and I love that I did it. I wanted a power distribution center and wanted someone to do the electrical work but I had the time and did it myself. Bed rails sealed and ready! I totally wanted the Blueridge attic so I made one. Lifting the hood up and down so many time made my arms hurt so I installed struts. I had a rat nesting under the hood and wanted to check it at night so I built and installed Led lights. Now If I knew for sure that the build will be moved into 2021 I would totally do the suspension. I believe in the product, has it been a long long time coming? YES, but...... I can wait and improve my plan.

Looks like you just pop the bed rail caps off?

Looks like you threw some sealer on it and put your stock caps back on?

For those that taped up the holes did you just buy the voodoo caps?

Removed the stocked bed caps, cleaned, taped the top with aluminum sealant tape, and placed a bead of silicone caulk around each penetration. Installed the stock caps and weighed them down until the caulk was dried. Super easy.

On hind sight, I would suggest that you make a starter hole through the tape where each attachment point on the bed cap is located. This will make the re-installation much smoother.

Just FYI, the dust and water don't come in through the bed cap, it comes in from between the bedside and the bed because dirt, dust, water, mud come up from the tires through the alternating 1/4" deep spaces along the top ridge of the bed. I'd seal there instead of putting silicone on top.

Thanks! Got it and the drain holes. Waiting on the interior build to seal the tailgate;) Don't forget the cubbies! Lot’s of intrusion points on these little trucks! When you think your done, look again.

Please post your truck with a powdercoated truck (or quote yourself from earlier in the thread). I'm trying to decide what colors look best on a MGM 2nd gen.
