yep 14 bolt. Plan is to do tmrs shave kit with pinion guard. First thing is get my truck working so I can get the axle to the house to break it down and make sure it’s straight. Ed found it for me at the scrap yard so although she is cheap, she may be damaged. Stored at the in-laws for now.

Kinda over excited about the winch, did not realize how bad I wanted it.

Cant wait to go play with it again.

    :headbang:

Was doing the CAD of the On/Off switch mount tonight. Hopefully completely done this weekend.:cookiemonster:

    If i can remember correctly.
14 bolt junk yard was 700 cab and chassis with drums
    detroit locker was 1000 roughly
    gears i got a set used 300
pinion yoke from 14 bolt to toyota driveshaft 400 canadian came from u.s.
i did a disc brake kit was something like 800 for everything seals and pads included
barnes offroad diff cover bolt it on and trim the lip it gives you 1" and alot less hassle. was something like 240 if i remember correctly

there was spring perches, u bolts and brake lines also thing is it had no parking brakes i used chevy 1/2 ton front callipers but i did have pinion brakes which sucked from day one but held enough for who every wants to look under there

when i it was all said and done I was in to a 3500 dollar bullet proof rear diff.

keep us posted with the build if you end up going with it.

btw the cab and chassis 14 bold when converted to discs is an inch or 2 of the stock rear diff on a 95 runner which is pretty much what we have on our tacomas...

So if all works with this axle (axle not being bent) I will have lucked out. I think I currently have the 67” wms to wms axle which is 2” wider then a stock Tacoma axle. Plus I only paid scrap price of $80, so lot of room to play around. I would have to run 1” spacers on the front of the truck to match the track width though, or I could also get less aggressive rims.

my calculations put me around $3500-$5000
    -$1400 for an arb
    -$1200ish for gears
-$600 for diff cover and shave kit (tmr)
-$500 for calipers, rotors, and mounting brackets that has a parking brake built in (Tmr). Although the axle is disc already, some of the brackets on this axle are bent or sheared off (looks like they cut it off the truck)
-probably another $300 in misc tabs, brackets and stuff
-then some other things for speedo, braking system, and general axle components (seals, bearings, axle shafts, etc etc)
-was also thinking it would be fun to have a huge parking brake lever (hoon handle) for cutting brakes/hood rat stuff....:anonymous:

Considering a rear disc brake conversion for our trucks is close to 3k USD and utilizes specific custom parts (I’m sure they aren’t that custom, but the company isn’t clear on “go to Napa and get x, y and z). Also, a “bolt in” one ton axle foR our trucks come close to the same price I’ll be spending BUT they are not full float and require you using the stock drum brakes....so on top of say $5-6k USD you have to do the conversion.

Looking forward to learning about full float axles and the whole process to get it under the truck. Will take a long time as I’m in no rush. Figure a little project to work on in the background to keep me occupied from doing more modifications to the truck that will eventually come off for a solid axle swap in the front.

had to re-try starting her 4 times before she actually turned over.

first 2 attempts was the same as usual
    click
    nothing

    3rd time was
*click tries to turn over for 5 seconds*

    4th time was
    *fired right up*

I assume this might be related to the issues i've been having since Ardbeg with starting up. Just going to give up and take it to a stealership for them to look at it... i've done what i could to trouble shoot it...

And yes, Traction control was dissabled.. Prefect timing with the snow fall we got on Hamilton mountain this morning....

Understandable. Just super weird how the events unfolded. Comes down to the “would of it have happened anyways” or “x caused it”. Either way, shit happens, and you just have to deal. Had a emissions issue that I changed a bunch of shit to fix it. Such a pain.

there are basically a million of different factors. some that i remember, others that i wont remember.

is it because i had less than a liter of mud/water in the truck from Ardbeg, but because the angle of the truck, it still touched some electrical component?
is it because i hit the start button accidently when i was half under the water in a flurry of panic?
is it because i was at that angle in the water that some water touched one thing that's usually above the water line?
is it because i unplugged the aftermarket remote start for 1 seconds that one time a week before the trip?
is it because i took off the banged and bent skid plates to check under the truck and remove some dirt?
    is it karma?
is it because the truck is secretly sentient and dislikes me suddenly?

    :pout:

there isn't anymore use to ask questions and assumptions at this point.
just going to deal with it at this time

Circuit code, not a cam-crank correlation code. The CKP sensor is near the crank, so it got submerged in Ardbeg. I'm speculating water possibly got into the wiring connector and either shorted something or caused corrosion. That or mice chewed some wires...

I bet that ^ Autos are a bit fragile ...

In reality you need to tear down interior, disconnect wire harness on that side and blast heat. It’s most likely wet still.
