I just went in for the K0D frame limited service campaign and basically got denied for having Fluid Filmed the truck. They had noticed the spray prior and I was like yeah, I've been doing it since the truck was new and 3-4 years before the recall, especially the known bad areas on the early trucks.

They're "sending photos to Toyota" but because I threw FF into the boxed area it looks like I'm SOL. I mentioned that it can wash off if need be, but that didn't seem to go over at all. It's fine, since I know FF will hold up better, but I sure would have liked to have had that letter giving me 12 years of frame replacement. Oh well, I'll just keep my eyes open and if I end up seeing something not so awesome on the frame at like year 10, I'll trade the truck, as much as I don't want to.

The head service advisor did pull me aside and said off the record to call Toyota and explain, that they'd just assume do the campaign since it's obvious that I take good care of my truck, but that their hands are somewhat tied. So we will see what happens.

Woah, the frame rust thing is still going on with 3rd gens?

When I had my 2011, it was new enough to have one of the Metalsa frames so it wasn't in any TSB or recall then. That frame still looked nearly perfect when I traded it in 2018. I figured that was the point where it was fixed.

it varies by dealer. I called mine before hand and asked questions etc and they said if you want the warranty bring it in. So i did and well they commented on how good my frame already looked and then did it. that was all. I did a 2020 a weekend or two back and they appear to be doing it from the factory now

Wow, today is a good day. FINALLY get my truck back. Thank god the drive to work in the HHR in the snow was not great.

And my tackle shop got some 9mm in and put aside a few hundred rounds for me.

It's unreal, and makes me question why the drunk uncle is still running QC in the frame department. How much has toyota lost with this crap, just use whatever they use on the other ones and lets move on.

It's pretty bad! I have to sleep with the tv on and if/when the tv pauses/shuts off I wake up because all I can hear is the constant ringing. Nothing I can do about it though, I try to stay positive but it is VERY annoying!
    It's still snowing here too.

Yeah, every manufacturer has their issues--Ford had a bad batch of cameras that I'm dealing with getting fixed now. Toyota tends to have fewer issues than most, but how in the world do they let this go on for 20+ years across multiple generations?

Isn't it one of those things that they could care less because they buy the frames from a subcontractor? I'm sure that is like 90% of the problems of all vehicles. Like my transmission, it's probably subcontracted out to Henchinjangfungshun of South Timbuckfuck. You think the subcontractor cares of the quality of the end product? Their name isn't on it. They will still sell 8 million units, even if they are malfunctioning. Then the subcontractor has insurance so if they breach the contract by providing shit, they just call the lawyers. Then next year they will make a new deal for some other new garbage.

If these car companies actually made their own products, they would care more about the quality of them. But they'd also cost as much as a Rolls Royce I guess.

Couple years those doors didn't close either. They get that handled?

True, you pay for what you get, and the indestructible car are out of (and I'm only assuming) most of our range...at least new. Landcruiser is a great example.

Not sure--I never had that problem with my '18. I did have the driver's side power lock act up in really cold weather, but I could still manually lock and unlock. I know part of the TSB was to remove the rubber plugs in the doors and I noticed my '20 didn't have them from the factory.

I've seen a handful of photos of 2016 trucks with tons of surface rust. The frame design is effectively identical between the two generations with minor changes. I had thought the frames changed somehow in 2012 as the part number changed, but now that the 2012-2015 trucks are being treated, I guess that's not the case.

For all intents and purposes, my frame is in nearly showroom condition outside of the leading edge of the transmission crossmember where it drops and is exposed to chipping, etc. I'm not particularly shocked that they aren't doing the treatment, but I'm also bummed out, because in essence we're both working towards the same goals. I have no doubt my regimen will work as good, if not better, than Toyota's as far as keeping the bulk of the frame clean.

What bums me out is potentially losing the 12 year replacement from in-service. I don't know how long I'll actually keep this truck, but my hope is in the 15 year range. So I always had hoped if the frame did go at say, Year 11, I could re-frame it and then sell it on for a decent amount at Year 15. At this point if the frame goes at Year 11, I've got a paperweight (yes, I can easily part it and recoup, but still).

I suppose if my truck lasted to Year 12 without a hole it's all a moot point anyways since I'd be boned regardless if one appeared. But if I get 13-15 years out of a truck, what does it owe me, anyways.

My high range hearing is shot and has been for years.
Most high frequencies I can't hear but a few. Crickets? Haven't heard much of them either. Just the wrong frequency.

If i go to a crowded place, it's like the Miracle Ear commercial, all I hear is background noise. Have to be looking right a person who is talking to understand anything..
    Annoying as all hell.

Alright, who pissed in Mother Nature’s Cheerios? We have a good 6” of cover here, heavy shot also so my trees are not happy.

Also, because it was cold today, I had the blower fan higher than normal and noticed i’m getting exhaust fumes in the cab. Gotta get that taken care of but will use recirc. until I do.

    I know, right?

My Mom lost another chunk of a large tree in her side yard. I took a broom to a few of my trees to try and pull some of the weight off.
