If your adding a hand throttle you might as well add dual line locks and a rear disco. My rigs not long enough to add the rear disco but with a Taco you should be able too.

Already got my driveshaft shortened. Not about to do it again lol.
Also those are only for gear driven T-cases. Not my chain case.

Hand throttle is way easier. Mount shifter, run cable, connect to throttle body with DIY bracket

 

You just need an adapter to go from the chain case to gear drive pattern. Easy peassy.

It was easier when he was only doing shit for 3rd gen 4Runners. Since he branched out to other Toyota platforms it's been harder to make him make things. lol

Ian. How much did you fork out for your shafts? I was charged 700. But it was also a full rebuild with a new CB.

 

I paid like 340 I think for shorten and lengthen.
U said you needed a new rear slip joint though and a carrier bearing.
if they had to rebuild the rear slip joint, or fix the splines. That probably took up a good amount of cost. Pretty labor intensive.
Who did the drive shaft work for yours?

When you say a full rebuild, did they put in all new U-joints too? At that point I could see it costing that much.

 

mine was a retube for the front and a custom driveshaft for the rear all new parts ( he gave me a double cardin from a drive shaft someone returned)

 

Yup. Full rebuild. Some shop in loomis that my fab guy uses. I'll get the name tonight IF i get my truck

 

Hm. Yea when you start throwing new parts at it, cost will add up.
My guy went from stock .065 to .095 I believe on the tubing since you have to cut it anyway.

I asked if I needed new U-joints and stuff, but the OEM ones on there were still good so no need.
Replaced the rear slip joint zerk though as I sheared mine off on a rock. Probably gonna do it again

 

I need one of those too. Or 2, maybe.

I do have the patterns worked out for the chain & gear cases....

Flat belly had a hiccup today - I rejected the entire run of transfer case clocking plates (they were tapped for 5/16-18 instead of 8x1.25.) BUT, I'm also talking to both an American and a Japanese company about making the splined couplers (once I verify the length of the stock automatic coupler) - so that's cool.

Once that stuff is sorted, I'll start making steel prototypes of the crossmember, and then we're off to the races, so to speak.
