Not sure what is the big deal here.

I had a recall regarding airbags in my ranger. It said they could deploy if the moisture got inside the dash. Never got a letter about a fix and was never an issue for about 4 years after i recieved the letter, then i sold the truck.

My taco is affected in this recall and its been fine. The only time its kind of in the back of my mind, is when im out in the bush an hour drive away from reception. But anything can go wrong, thats why you should always be prepared and never go alone.

Dont understand why some dudes are freaking out over it, your original fuel pump will probably be fine for a long time. Look at how many guys actually were left stranded, 3?

I just looked up my VIN for my 2020 on the Toyota site and there is no recall at this time. Is this a 2016-2019 issue only?

All fuel pumps fail OP. If you don’t want mechanical or electrical issues, it’s probably best to walk.

Be glad it’s under recall. My GM shit fuel pumps every 30K miles, that was $2400 I didn’t get back.

Just starting out, give me time
So it's funny this recall has just come up at this time. Last week in my garage I was installing sequential mirror turn signals and I heard a loud pumping noise, it was so loud I thought it was my neighbor doing something in their garage. It was driving me nuts so upon actually inspection of sound it was actually coming from the rear end driver's side wheel well area. This went on for at least a solid 4 to 5 minutes without my truck actually running or have been running for at least 2 hours. How is this possible? Going into dealer today for other warranty work for roof weather stripping so I guess my pumps been bad or will be soon if it's running when not even driving right?

I think your referring to the fuel injector tick not the fuel pump running noise. This was definitely not a normal sound

Its normal. I was tempted to snark, but since I just had a snickers I'll give you the real answer.

On occasion the fuel tank does a pressure leak test as a self check. It happens after some predetermined time when the truck is shut off and cool. Most of us have heard it in the evening/after dark.

I'll take a look but this is a sound that I've never heard before since I got it a year ago
