This is the third time I've had a G string break on my 6 string while tuning down.

I tune the guitar down when I'm not going to be playing for a while to take the stress off the neck.

This is the third time I have had Elixirs break on their second loosening.

See I'm learning the TW way. A clever title is better for smarta$$ comments, which is more entertaining than anything else :p

To be honest, I don't know what Elixir acoustic strings are, but I'm going to guess brass.

I just find it annoying its only the g string, especially when I keep having to replace new strings.

So it's an acoustic guitar . The string breaks when you re-tighten it to pitch ?

That sounds right. Steel core with brass wrapping.

It's only a couple years old. It stays in a fairly constant environment. It doesn't show any signs of being over moist or dry.

Do the strings break in the same spot each time , at the bridge ? or headstock ?

That's cool! Maybe I saw your place of work on how's its made?

I guess I'll have to. I just choose Elixir because they're coated and don't tarnished as bad when I'm not around to play.

It breaks right at the tuning nut every time.

I would blame the way I wrap them, but I used to string guitars at a old job and have used this method for years on hundreds of guitars without any problems.
