I’ll bet you have less consumption with the straight 10w-30.

That’s another great value option. I just like the Havoline box because it’s 6 quarts.

2005 TRD Sport at 140k and the only oil loss is due to it leaking from the timing chain cover. That amounts to less than half a quart every six months. Bought the truck in Nov of 2004.

i just switched to Mobil 1 I have 121k on mine and so far no leaks either and no noticeable loss between 5k mile oil changes , that’s what I was doing before switching . I’m going to 10k mile changes so I guess we’ll see

1 qt ever 3k to 5k miles is any manufacturers max tolerance before it triggers recall. NOT the norm!

    Working on it now....UNDER CONSTRUCTION
I run 10,000 mile intervals on all my vehicles. The Tacoma's use less than a 1/4 of a quart in that 10,000 mile run which I consider normal consumption. Some oil has to be burned for the motor to operate properly. If your dipstick doesn't show a drop over 10,000 miles then you are getting a dilution of the oil.

I only have 80k on mine. But no....not a drop. I have never added in make up oil in between OCs.

I use Mobil 1....vanilla, Truck and SUV, Extended Protection or Valvoline Full Synthetic 5/30....whichever one is on sale or has a rebate. And either an M1 or Fram Ultra filter.

    5k intervals

A little over 145K on my 2009 and no measurable amount of usage or leakage. It does have the usual passenger side valve cover leak, but it's so minimal at this point I'm not digging into it. I've ran everything from a Euro 0w40 I had leftover to whatever on sale synthetic 5w30. Currently running Valvoline Synthetic that was on sale for $10/5qt. This has been the quietest it's been since I bought it. Also noticed the same when I used the exact oil on the Liberty...

Funny someone mentioned a VW using oil on here. Guess I got lucky, or broke it in right, but my 2017 VW GTI does not use any. I've used several different oils with the same result...

Not a drop ever! Probably not a good thing, but I rarely even check my oil level between changes anymore.

I don't think flat engines inherently use more oil. It all comes down to cylinder wall and piston material/finish/coating selection by the automaker. Sometimes they sacrifice oil consumption to reduce friction and eck out more power or an extra mpg. As I understand, Subarus prior to the FB engines didn't burn oil. My Impreza with its old EJ25 certainly doesn't.
