Any idea how long we can wait to have the service performed?

So far it seems to idle smoother and maybe a tiny more giddy up, could be in my head though. Not sure about fuel economy yet.

Well damn, I missed this thread that started back in January. Smh.

let me give you some context of my battle. I purchased my vehicle back in Sept of 19. Within 50 miles of ownership I was back at the dealership complaining of rough idle and intermittent system strain which I thought at the time was caused by the AC cycling on and off. Shortly after at about 500 miles I left the vehicle for 4 days while on a trip with them complaining of the same issue and this time had the service scheduled through Toyota corporate as a precautionary step. I put about a half a dozen coworkers and friends through hell making them sit in the truck and verify how rough the idle was and feel the vibration as the rpms ticked up and down before taking this step. I even put a bobble head on the dash to illustrate how rough it ran while parked.

They failed to provide any explanation of any testing, diagnostic, or remedy attempt. The only thing they provided me with was a work order with essentially a binary code that they had communicated with Toyota corporate. I called bullshit and demanded an explanation. Low and behold the response I received was we can’t reproduce the issue and a final BS statement that the its a “characteristic” of the vehicle. I refused to sign the service ticket and instead wrote on the ticket that I don’t agree that this is a “characteristic” and demand that it be fixed. Intense words were exchanged with the service department at that time and I vowed to never recommend Toyota to another person.

My third attempt was at a different dealership in March at the first scheduled Toyotacare interval and about 3k miles on the clock at which point I made them go over the fuel delivery and ac system again to make sure everything is charged as the problem still persists. They indicted again that everything is ok and there are no known issues. I again stuck to my virtues and advised that I don’t buy it and this will be an ongoing request every time I bring the vehicle in as I felt they were not being truthful. Fast forward to my last visit just a week ago and I again brought up the issue at which point they indicated that due to the time of day they can’t look at the systems any further and I will need to schedule another service. I had to try and force them to add my complaints to the ticket as they kept refusing and I was planning on getting it back in and then filing for lemon law after it wasn’t repaired.

This morning I filed a complaint with the AG’s office in my state against Toyota and I am waiting for instruction on how to proceed. At this point my concern is more in line with what is my recourse if the problem still persists after the they repair it under a nationwide recall without surrendering any possible recourse over the life of the vehicle. We shouldn’t have to feel like these steps are necessary and I also feel that they knew they were selling vehicles in this condition, I’m not going to change my mind on that.

I really want to love this truck but Toyota can really be a**hats in order to protect the bottom dollar and a faulty product doesnt help. I had a feeling this was coming when I saw the other recalls and asked myself why we weren’t included yet. I am totally at the end of the road as far as trust is concerned.

Don’t let up if you feel there is a problem because people like us that care for our stuff tend to pay closer attention than the masses.I am more than willing to participate in any class action lawsuits.

Just my experience and I hope it helps someone out there.

Truck is running fine so no hurry but I was off next week so it would have been convenient.

Quite a few things at this point..
I've had the same experience after getting mine done a couple weeks back too. Not a huge difference/improvement by any means, but still noticable.

They normally give you a certain amount of time to get it done. Usually expires in a few years

Recall is now for our 2019 Camry and they got my Pro on there too. Honestly my truck is fine, but I’m kind of glad about the Camry. Been way under mpg, and it’s been hesitating 3 months after we got it. Brought it in a few times and like usual, the dealer said it was normal.

Thanks, mine is running just fine and I'm also not driving it much, so I'm not in a rush to get it done - but I also dont want them saying the recall expired when I do go to schedule.

I believe I received a letter a while back saying mine was part of the recall and that they would send notice when the remedy was available. I haven't received a second letter from toyota yet either, but I see that later MY have already gotten it fixed so I'm sure mine is due up now too - but as I said, I'm in no hurry and prefer to wait if possible

I have heard (read it on TW so it must be true) that if you have your truck in for any routine service and they see it is on the list, they will ask you so sign a waiver to drive it home without the fix. Some have reported that their trucks were essentially in dealer-jail for months awaiting the parts.

Yes they are suppose to cause if u wreck our anything happens by cause of recall you can fall back on them saying you had it in there at so and so time and they didn’t say anything about a recall and they can be at fault for allowing you to drive it that way. If u sign the waiver it clears them.

I used to own a Sequoia and there was an outstanding recall concerning the passenger side airbag. Didn't seem like a big deal to me so I ignored the notices for years until one day I got a phone call from Toyota. They set up a 3 way conference call between me and the dealer to set up an appointment to get it done. I figured it must be important so I went ahead and got it done. Thinking about it later, somebody could have died in a crash if the airbag didn't function properly. Anyway, I was impressed that Toyota Corp. thought enough to actually call me to get it done. :bananadead:

I had that recall for the FJ. They were quite relentless until I got it done....and then for a while after since they seemed to have a small issue with their record-keeping. :)
