Alright I got a question for the pros or the more experienced photographers. How do you set up your pictures? Do you look at something and visualize the picture in your head and then take it? Or do you just take random pictures and they turn out amazing? (not saying all your photos are random...just a figure of speech)

I'm far from a pro but yes, occasionally I just see something that says, take a picture of me...

I also use the philosophy of, if you can't shoot well, shoot a lot.

That rule can be applied in other places in life as well. :fenforcer:

dont listen to conekiller...he doesnt know what he's talking about

keep your camera on raw, youre camera captures ALL photo information (jpeg throws away pixels), wich in turn means a higher quality photo

Alright man thanks. I wasn't sure. How do you resize your photos cause when I posted it on here it was this huge picture?

I know these are such basic stupid questions but they are very knowledgable to me cause im just gettin started.

In my opinion, choosing RAW or JPEG really depends on what you're doing with the photos. JPEG will be fine most of the time, especially if you're not wanting to do a lot of post-processing. As mentioned, JPEG compression is "lossy", that is it discards information during the compression. However, it's not so much as to make your photos look worse per se, especially at higher resolutions.

RAW files are significantly better if you want to do a lot of tweaking, but they're also very large files. Keep in mind the amount of hard drive space this will take up over time if you shoot all your photos in RAW.

A nice option that a lot of DSLRs have is to always save JPEG and RAW files. This allows you to keep the JPEG of most of your photos to save space, but also to have the RAW files for the ones you really love.
