We have quite a few like yours @six5creed but lately they seem to always get in the way. We also have a few that clamp onto the jaw itself and have a small rod that sticks off.

One of our customers came in the store earlier this year and said they were cleaning up at work and wanted to know if my kids wanted a drafting table. Sure!

The vertical rod does get in the way from time to time. I like that one you have, may have to get one.

I can’t stand warped rotors. I took these off the race car tacoma this morning and chucked em up in the lathe. Passenger side was warped .015” and the drivers side .008” they’re smooth as butter now.

How many times can you make them flat again before you lose too much material?

I’m not sure, they usually have the minimum thickness stamped on them but I didn’t look for it :anonymous:

This is about where I think you should stop. (If you still can!)

I'm sure there's some material to spare but I wasn't sure how you figured out the minimum thickness, I know shops will refuse to turn them if they're too thin or too warped.

Ok so theres been numerous threads about warped rotors, some say its build up some say its warped, some say tightening bolts down wrong causes warp,

heres my take yes they can warp. No tightening lugs down wont cause warp, overheating does.

I agree, heat. Most of the time lugs are tightened somewhat evenly, I’d say rarely is a torque wrench used. I’ve always tightened mine tighter than they should be :)

I give em all about 3 "ugga ugga uggas" lol

I also use a breaker bar because ive got aftermarket wheels and lug nuts so I do actually pay attention not to go as tight as the breaker bar would allow me to. I had to use a torque wrench when I lifted my truck and I think it was the U bolts that required like 65 lbs torque, and that feels similar to how much torque I give the lugs. I am aware though, that how it feels is not a great measure.

Now to turn it over, indicate it, and chamfer the holes a little.

well, I got it running. Valves were way out of spec. Turns out there’s a hole in the radiator. Almost as much smoke there as there is coming out of the tailpipe!

I’m one of the weirdos who actually torque their lugs to 83ft/lb. I also anti-seize everything that is dissimilar materials. I’m kinda neurotic like that. :notsure:

You're not alone. I don't anti seize my lugs but I do torque to spec.

Ya also have to reduce the torque 10% with the anti-seize too! To make things even more weirdo neurotic!

these are the things that keep me up at night :anonymous:
