Yep, when I was looking and discounts were 10% truecar would spit out a 5% discount(basically where dealers wanted to be. 1% now). Dealers pay true car a fee to be a truecar dealer and get the leads from that site. They’re not going to pay for someone to send them crappy deals.

For those of you getting 6%-10% off sticker, is that before or after the factory rebates/incentives? I’m seeing I qualify for either $1500 or $2000 from Toyota.

    Thanks

$44,187 MSRP and $40,753 is my price with the $500 rebate before TTL as of now. Trucks not coming in till next week now so the rebates might get better.

Hey guys, looking at trading my Colorado in tomorrow, wanted to see what everyone thought of this deal

    2021 trd off road
    Voodoo blue dcsb
Premium package, advanced tech, led headlights, all weather floor mats
    44703 msrp
3156 dealer discount (7% before rebate)
    So $41550 plus ttl
Probably financing with Toyota, so that should knock another 1k off as well
Not totally sure on out the door yet, being an out of state purchase

I’m in Iowa, but my local dealers weren’t interested in negotiating or even hunting down the build I wanted. So I’ll be driving up to the twin cities this weekend.
    Good/bad/thoughts?

    2024 Ice Cap SR5 Double Cab 4x4
    1. 2021 TRD Sport, Cement, MT, Access Cab
    2. MSRP(before dealer add ons): $36,387
    3. Options: All Weather Floor liner/Door Sill Protectors, Mudguards
    4. Cost of dealer add ons: $618 (Window Tint, Remote Tailgate lock)
    5. Price before Tax Title License:$36,387
    6. Discount 1-(#5/#2)*100=% off MSRP) 0% off MSRP
    7. Incentive (rebate/customer cash) $1000 customer cash for financing through TFS with 3.99% APR (I will be paying it off before the first payment is due)
    8. Price Out The Door: $38,186.49
    9. Trade in vehicle: 2017 TRD Sport Access Cab MT
    10. Kelley blue book trade-in value $26,523 (it was right around $26,000 when I negotiated the deal)
    11. Trade allowance: $27,500
    12. Date purchased: October 2020
    13. State purchased: Nevada

I definitely could have saved some money if I waited until next spring/summer, but ultimately it cost me about $9,000 out of pocket to get a model year that is 4 years newer and reset the mileage.

What are you getting for your trade allowance? What is the vehicle and what is the Kelley blue book trade-in and private party value? How much they’re giving you for your trade Vs KBB values is a huge part that you’re missing. If you can get them close to KBB private party then you’re doing very good. 7% off is on the higher end of discounts that people are getting. But whatever less than about $500 less than KBB private party value they give you arguably but effectively reduces your discount off MSRP.

Makes it hard to say no right? I paid $28,600 for my 2016. Traded it in four years and 40,000 miles later for $27,000.

Ah, yes I did forget to include that, they’re giving me 36 for trade. Which in my case is the high end of trade and the low end of private party on kbb.

Though I do agree that this effects my effective discount, it’s actually no worse than I expect in my area. I mean by that, the used market is really cold right now, so it would be slow to sell. Which would be a disadvantage to me right now.
It’s something that I’ve certainly considered, though I’m chalking up my loss in my current truck to overestimating it’s ability to hold value. Especially in my state, where we don’t really have the off-roading scene that appreciates it.

Also for the sake of everyone’s info, I do plan to post detailed amounts of the deal does go through

If you’re getting in the mid range of trade in to private party sale then You’re doing better than 70% of most people. Trading in basically is the dealer taking care of the crappy ass selling process that some of us don’t like to deal with.
7%+fair trade= High end of good deals right now.

I emailed a specific message of exactly what I wanted to 10 dealerships in a 200 mile radius from me, since I wanted a low option truck with a MT. A few got back to me and had two competing a little just to get below msrp, but only about $1,000 below. I "ordered" early oct and my truck was built and delivered. I told them last week as my truck arrived I wanted to wait out and see November incentives. So they called me and gave me a better deal to close in October which I have posted below.

    1. 2021 TRD OR, Cement, MT, Double Cab
    2. MSRP: $37,942
    3. Options: Tech Package, Bed Light, Bed Mat, All Weather Floor liner/Door Sill Protectors, LEDs(I think are now standard)
    4. Price before Tax Title License:$35,332
    5. Discount with $500 rebate = 1-(#4/#2)*100=% off MSRP) 6.9% off MSRP

Well...c’mon now... Don’t think you’re just going to be able to make that post without the background story. That ZR2 seems pretty bad ass. What was the problem?

I can't say there was a real problem with the ZR2, it was hugely fun to drive. I just didn't really need it, I don't do a ton of off-roading, and when I do its mainly B roads and muddy fields (not much more than that in Iowa).
It did have a few issues. To begin with, I had leaking shocks from the factory. Its not uncommon with those trucks, which is concerning with shock that expensive. They were covered under warranty, but gm paid roughly 2k to replace just the rears. Also, some basic things, (headlights, general interior quality) were frankly pathetic for a 50k truck. I was also banking on it holding value much better than it did, being a limited build. Unfortunately, where I am the Bison is relatively unknown. So I was getting insanely low offers on trade in. Even from Chevy dealers.

Funny enough, I looked at a TRD pro before I got that truck, but in 19 the Tacoma was missing some things that I really wanted. Since they updated in 2020, all my concerns were updated. led headlight, carplay, etc.
Also, I'm saving about 140/month on my payment so that's a nice bonus
One other factor that was pretty awesome for me, I used to have a Subaru Crosstrek in Hyper Blue and I loved it. Definitely one of my favorite cars. With the fender flairs and voodoo blue, this truck looks like my old Crosstrek grew up. And despite being a grown ass man, I enjoy that.

Definitely not a bash. Though the ZR2 group on facebook didn't see it that way. Posted that pic in hopes one of them would want to snatch it up, and oh boy you would have thought I disrespected all their mothers.

I get much better vibes from the Tacoma group so far
