I'm getting hyper flash from the driver side lights but I don't have any LED bulbs in my truck. Would replacing the flasher relay help solve this? The passenger side acts normally. I've checked all the bulbs and they are fine. I even swapped them from the driver side to the passenger side but the driver side lights still flash as though there's a burnt out bulb. All of the lights work fine and flash evenly when the hazards are on. I'm not sure where else to look other than the flasher relay, but isn't it only one relay that controls both sides?

All of them except the headlight bulbs. I even went so far as to swap the reverse bulbs even though it has nothing to do with it.

Yes, all of the tail lights, the front turn signals, and the front corner marker bulbs.

The relay would be the next thing I would check. It’s cheap around $10.
Actually I would check resistance of all the sockets to make sure there’s no high readings then I would check out the relay.

If you changed the bulbs side to side and the problem stays on the one side, I'd say you have a wiring issue.
    Do you have trailer wiring?

I believe OP has an 08’ as well.

I am inclined to agree. The circuit should be load sensing. At least that how I understand it. Evidently the current isn’t within the desired range?

Maybe check the Grounds and bulb sockets for good contact.

^^^This. My trailer wiring was pretty messy on my Landcruiser. It would short and cause all kinds of weird problems until I finally realized it was the issue and fixed it. The fact that it's flashing at all tells me the relay isn't the issue.

I agree with the others. You have a resistance issue in the wiring or more likely one of the sockets on the problem side.

This could help understand what is happening. A guide for hyperflashing without LED Bulbs...

There is also a troubleshooting guide at the end of the article.

Yes, there's trailer wiring. I just got the truck, and it looks pretty bad. I haven't had a chance to look under there yet. Is there just a connector that I can unhook, or is it hardwired into the harness?

It's on my '08. No such problems on my '18 or '03 :D

    Thanks, I'll check it out!

I'm not sure how it's wired into your truck. Is it factory trailer wiring or aftermarket? I would say find the easiest spot to disconnect it from the truck to see if your problem goes away.

It looks like the stock hitch and wiring. I’ll have to climb down there this weekend and check it out

I run LEDs in my DTRL and after much deliberation decided to just live with hyperflashing. It’s not that bad and I’ve passed inspection multiple times since. I wasn’t about to run the stock hot as hell lights and ruin another set of housings.

I would find it very hard to believe that the towing wiring could be causing the problem. 1st of all, the lights hyperflash because of high resistance/ low current draw. It’s only possible for the towing harness wiring to add more current draw.

2nd, I’m pretty sure the tow turn signal power is supplied by a tow fuse. The flasher only supplies a signal to the converter box.

It makes you look like an idiot that bought LEDs at Autozone and was too stupid or too lazy to fix the hyperflash.

I say it everyday. “Look at that idiot with the hyperflashing turn signals. He’s probably 1 of those people that put in LED headlights because he thought it would be a lighting improvement and now he’s blinding the Hell out of everybody.”

Opinions abound on the internet. I chose not to go the resistor route and didn’t stick with stock due to the damaging effect to headlight housings. They look great and are a legitimate option for those that don’t want to install resistors.
