Trying to mount my oil catch can and everything that could possibly go wrong has. I'm using one of the two spare holes in the drivers side inner fender firewall (guess that's what it's called). I have a bolt that fits but upon installing the catch can I discovered the hood strut hits it when I lower the hood. I need to use a spacer to move the can further in so the strut will clear it. Problem is I need a longer bolt to accomplish this and I don't know the size/thread count. The bolt I have that fits only has 4 dots on the end and no numbers. Does anybody know what size bolt fits those holes?

    TIA

And there's an unused threaded hole on the intake manifold. It isn't necessary to route hoses all the way to the fender:

Poor man's method is to take the bolt that fits to a hardware store and find the size via their nut display.

The pick the length you want.

This I would do if I had the necessary bracket.

This is what I'll end up doing. Searching eBay and Amazon I find some are labeled coarse and some are not. Only way to be sure is to take it to the hardware store.

On eBay and Amazon, if it isn't labeled coarse or fine, then it's usually coarse. You can also measure your bolt that fits with a ruler. If 4 threads measure out to 5mm, it's coarse. If they measure out to 4mm, it's fine.

I thought the thread size was coded in the numbers. If not then the numbers are meaningless. If M8 1.25 says nothing about the threads then it says nothing about whether or not it will fit a particular nut. o_O

Yes 1.25 means 1.25mm per thread (aka coarse), so 4 threads would be 5mm long.

1.0 means 1.0mm per thread (aka fine), so 4 threads would be 4mm long.

Toyota uses coarse thread almost everywhere, because everything is designed for power tools and quick assembly, and coarse thread is less likely to get cross-threaded.
