The outside temperature reading on my head unit has been showing-999 for the past 3 days while the reading on the central gauge cluster shows normal. Also, when scrolling thru the Weather App on the head unit and checking other local temps, they read correctly. When I hit the Home Button again, the -999 reading appears again. Any thoughts on what is happening?

No signal? Failed sensor? Usually a resistive type, but would have to dbl check on ours. If so, check ohms across the pins for an open.

I just drove my wife to a medical appointment about 20 miles from home. The head unit is showing the correct temp for the area I am currently in now. I’ll see what it shows when I get back home in an hour or so.

    You got that right.....

Hit a few more localities this afternoon and got normal temp readings in those. Soon as I get back to my town and it’s immediate area, back to the -999. Stopped by the local dealership and they were of course puzzled (never heard of THAT before.....) and suggested that the SIRIUS Weather app is/was controlled by the cell phone, so I should check into that myself (big help). Or, they may have to update the SIRIUS software at the dealership. Hard to know what to think or believe......

    Maybe it’s sunspots.............:bananadead:

This is getting funnier by the moment - because no one seems to know what the issue is and I keep getting sent back and forth.

I called another local Toyota dealership this morning and they also appeared confused with no clear idea on what is going on either. I was referred to my cell phone carrier as it seems that they are being blamed for some of this. Not certain why this would affect the Weather App results since not everyone might actually have a cell phone in the truck at the time.

My call with AT&T was semi-helpful as the tech understood what was happening but did not directly admit any fault with AT&T or Toyota’s Entune system. I was instructed to make some modifications in my cell phone’s Settings and give it a test. Appeared to correct the issue until this afternoon in which the temp readings went back to -999.

I just went ahead and changed my screen to a two screen view so as to not have to look at the Weather App screen until someone can figure this out. I have to go down to Florida for awhile to take care of some medical issues with my parents and don’t have time to worry about the temp issue.

    Thanks for listening.

I did, too, however, my two Toyota dealerships gave me two different explanations, so...........

Anyway, it has been -999 free for 3 days now after screwing around with the cell phone app and re-pairing the phone, so I am not touching the Weather App on the Entune unit ever again.......:fingerscrossed:

Some service advisors/salesman don’t know their products. I’m pretty sure I had that too. But hey, whatever works.
