Did a 2" lift on my Son's 2018 OR and added the factory Pro Grill and harness. They never asked him or myself to deactivate...and if they did, we would refuse. Per the TSB, looks like once you give written consent, the nickel to fix this is on you. FWIW, there never has been a problem with these systems on his truck.

My dealership did a similar thing without my consent. They stripped the screws that hold on the sensor and shaved down the sides so taking out the screws is no longer an option making the sensor permanently stuck to the grill. I had some luck with a friend we were able to pry the screws out and I’m planning on putting my oem grill on.

the screws can be removed with either a screw driver or a 10m socket. They bricked both options but I got around it.
I only know this because the screw are absolutely destroyed

How is that legal? I would be contacting a lawyer and their corporate office. The truck is yours, they have no right to disable something on it.

Wow that's crazy. Originally they were just setting it to default to off and you could still turn it on manually each drive cycle or change the setting in Carista or Techstream. The mm wave radar isn't cheap.

I’m not sure who did it or how long it was like that. I noticed it back in September and I replaced the screws with oem screws so the same thing doesn’t happen. Also, I’m actually putting my oem grille back on right now lol

They said I also have a fuel pump recall but they had to order the part and will call me when it arrives to setup replacement. I am going to tell them to turn my PCS back or replace it because I didn’t give consent. Crazy that is even an option. If I want it turned off I would turn it off myself within the dash. Because looking at that ugly light on my dash forever is just annoying.

it works fine. actually, if your vehicle is lifted, I would think the pro grille would work better since it lowers the sensor location back closer to its original height. bummer they turned it off i'd have them turn it back on and not perform any other modifications to my vehicle.

Write "No permission granted to deactivate or work on PCS system/grill sensor" when it goes in for the included maintenance. Snap a pick before handing it back and leaving the truck.

bottom line: read what you sign.

I’m glad you posted this, OP. I’m in for 10k mile servicing soon and I had no idea Toyota actually did this. I just put my oem grille back on and I actually love how it looks, especially with my aftermarket headlights! I had to remove the raptor lights (I didn’t like them anyway) and luckily no check engine light. I did get a low tire pressure light, but that’s unrelated.

I’m gonna go take a 20 minute drive to make sure my PCS is working correctly and efficiently.

I saved the OEM OR grill just in case but I have not had any issues with my dealer complaining about the all OEM PRO grill/wire harness/garnish.

But worth taking some steps to prevent someone from fucking with it.

Exactly. The pro grille is so overrated now I’m actually glad to remove it haha

If you signed the form, that was the consent... You should of read it before signing it.

I like the Pro grill looks and think the OEM OR fish mouth one is ugly.

But I am not a truck hipster that always needs something new because it is common now. lol

I still have my original OEM grill. I may put it back on and take it back up there and tell them “my PCS isn’t working”. I would think they would have to fix it. I mean eventually not have the PCS functioning will cost me later if I try to trade it in and it’s not right for me to have to pay $400 to replace something they disarmed

Raptor lights is the new trend... I see dodge, Chevy, and gmc with aftermarket raptor lights now

Thats not really how it works. They will pull up the history first, they will see the recall and check that. They will see that you signed the form to turn it off and then proceed to tell you they cant and wont turn it back on.

I saw a sedan with Raptor lights a few days ago. That made me do a double take.

It was dark so I couldn't tell. It was a 4 door sedan though. Not even a ricer.
