I can totally relate Ken, the beauty of this thread is we do not talk politics just life - a welcome relief in todays world of social miss-media threads.

Stay dry and warm - a balmy low 40's here today. Better than the last few days below zero in the mornings. It was 60 Saturday and dry - got a lot of outdoor prep done. Sunday it was high of 29 and 18" of the white stuff then colder Monday & Tuesday.

 sixties/wannabes/Susan. I'm slowly crawling back to the surface after a hectic last week or so. Dad passed on Friday October 16. Someone stayed with mom every night until this past Monday the 26th. Services were Saturday Oct. 24. It's quite a challenge to plan a service during a pandemic, let me tell you. There are a ton of local relatives and friends but the church could only hold a certain number of people under the CDC guidelines, plus a heck of lot of those people are high risk for a bad outcome from the confounded virus. So not everyone could be there in person. We tried our best to do a "zoom meeting" to include more people; I'm told there was a picture but the sound wasn't great. But overall we got it done. We'll have to see how things go with the pandemic and vaccine and so on; but maybe we can have a proper "celebration of life" on his birthday next July -- open house, everyone who wants to be there can be there. I'd like that.

I just received a big stack of papers from their investment house that need signatures. Ugh. I was hoping to avoid going to the estate lawyer but I think it might be a good idea. Then I need to sell their car. And shop for mom. And so on. (Maybe it is finally time to hang up the job...)

It's been a strange time for me mentally. I'm already having a hard time remembering what his voice sounded like. I don't know if that's normal but it is disturbing. I also find myself just zoning out, staring off into space, thinking about him. Sleep comes in fits and starts. Keeping busy has definitely helped. And there's plenty to do.

Good afternoon folks ..... and welcome to the newbies in the group. Don't worry about turning 70. I did that last August and really didn't feel any different the next morning!?

Got my fuel pump recall done yesterday. The dealership maintenance department was so backed up I had to leave the truck there overnight. Picked it up this morning and didn't notice any problems driving home. Hope it stays that way. Now I just need some warmer, less windy weather to do the wash and wax before winter really hits.

Time will ease the pain in thinking about your Dad Dave. It has been many years since my Dad and my FIL passed, but when I still often think of them both and miss the relationships we had. It is one day at a time and you still need to help Mom out which will help. I wish you the best and prayers for you, your Mom and family that peace will come soon.

    Afternoon all:
Just got done filleting the walleye, now I need to make sure the bear doesn't find the remains! I usually just discard them over in the woods where critters can enjoy a meal.

Looks like you need some snow Judy, in our area there were sleds all over at one time, not so much anymore, and those that have them head North to ride.
OH! And don't forget the sarsaparilla for the cooler!

Hang in there Dave, there is a healing process involved that just takes some time. I did the probate when my mother passed, and helped a friend out when his FIL passed, I'm far from a genius but I got it done without too much difficulty. I'm decent with math, that was a big plus, and a few things that I needed clarification on I either called the register of wills or the state, believe it or not they were helpful, probably because I wasn't way off base on my questions and could comprehend what they were telling me.
When they hand you a thick folder of forms and instructions it does seem overwhelming, but if you take your time and go step by step you can get through it.
If you aren't very good at math I would say it's best to hand it over to an attorney, I had figures matching backward, forward, and sideways, like the old saying goes "they had to add up" and they did, you also need the time to be able do it, I would guess that most just hand it over to an estate lawyer.

Thank you! That's quite a ride. Sounds like a border to border give or take a couple of miles. Never had done that.
I try to get out as much as I can during the week. Folks are crazy on weekends.
Thanks @boatswain and @Tacoma Mike glad to see you guys and thanks everyone for the warm welcome.

DAve, as others have said time will take care of a lot of the pain. It is a process and is not easy. I miss my mom and dad every day.

It's been many years since both my parents passed, within a month of each other. I will always miss them every day, just the way I'm wired. I think about them more around the holidays or when something good happens in my life. I can see them smiling. It's like they're standing right next to me. I hope that never goes away. A friend told me one time, you can train yourself to remember the good times, but it's just natural for me. I think that's the way it's meant to be.

Good morning, everyone!! Snow here in northeast PA - sticking to the ground but not the driveway.

I lost my Dad back in '97 while I was deployed to Bosnia, my Mom died on the same day of January 20 years later. I miss them both every day.

    Stay safe out there!!!

A late good morning everyone. We went to the Frederick, MD fairgrounds last night to see Chase Rice. He is a a younger country song writer that will be mainstream in a few years. He did an acoustic set with no band and was fabulous. The concert was a drive in concert. All three of us had a good time.

A little something every chance we get.
Good Morning all, a SURPRISING 34* this AM, which was SUPPOSED to be an overnight low of 44*! So, I guess it's time to round up the small pots for the greenhouse shelves this morning before the games. Heaters are ready, and I've been testing, but I really wasn't expecting to put them in until at least next week, because "it's not going to be that cold!" Got the stuff to repot the big ones next week, so I guess I will be all set in early November.
Look out! Full Moon-blue moon and :pumpkin::pumpkin::pumpkin::pumpkin::pumpkin::pumpkin:!

42° here in Bowie this morning. Eggs, hash browns and bacon on the outside griddle this morning. Making a beef stew for dinner tonight. Wife and son do not want any so I cleaned and deseeded 4 chili peppers and into the pot they went.

Going to show my son, I mean let him do all the work, how to replace front side marker and turn signal lights on his Ford F150 today.
