Got my extra baitcasting rod, its a 7 foot medium. But while there I found a pretty cool pistol grip 5'6 rod.... Not sure what I would use a pistol grip 5'6 for, but I want it :)

Well I got the pistol grip... I hate myself.... I dropped my daughter off at dance and decided to spend the next hour getting trash bags and kitty litter... one thing led to another, and now I have this super bad ass pistol grip 5'6 rod... my new reel for the 7 footer (that I got 2 days ago!) is showing up sunday, guess I should probably order another one now for the newest rod.

I love the feel of the rod, pretending to cast with it just feels right. There is no butt of the rod to hit my pfd while in the kayak, it just feels so nimble. But, with different rod handles comes new problems. The pistol grip doesnt fit in my crate rod holders, or the built in ones in the back of my kayak... but it does fit in my scotty rod holders that are up front. The only time the front rod holders ever get used it when I am paddling to a new spot so I can grab the rod real fast if I need to, I dont like to store rods in them as they are in the way of casting.

Despite the feeling that I am talking to my self, with @1buzzbait giving me the thumbs up each time I talk, I am going to continue talking about my new pistol grip rod.

My left handed baitcaster came in today. I spooled it up with some line, put a practice weight on the line and went out front and did some casting in the yard. Pistol grip is my new favorite rod, hands down the best feeling cast ever. Monday night I will be taking it out (along with some of my normal rods) to give it a spin with some real fish on it. I will probably end up catching rainbows, but I am hoping the bass will have moved back into the rainbows area.

I crushed them today. At Clearlake! Nicknamed the “bass factory”. I was skunked first two times. The third! I owned it. I got hooked 9 big ones. Boated 8.

The smallest one of the day. Had a passing boat snap a pic and text it to me.

These rod covers are like $3 at walmart too, they fit spinning rods (white) and baitcasters (orange)

Was pretty cheap too, $38 bucks ugly stik gx2. Found it all by its lonesome at walmart, now its going to be one of my main rods to go with the 2 6'6 medium spinning rods (red reels on the left side of the last picture).

Yeah I know, I have both baitcasters and spinners that I use. I grew up spinning and just started baitcasters, so I tend to bring my spinners with me more than the baitcaster.

On a normal trip I will bring:
    two 6'6 medium spinning rods
    new 5'6 pistol baitcaster

then if I bring a 4th rod it depends on where I am going. If its to the river, then the 7f heavy with a 50 series reel, if its just the local pond then the 4'8 ultra lite. But I have several other lengths and strengths that I can use.

Here is a normal lineup (6 f medium on the far left, 6'6 mediums in the middle, 5'6 pistol on the right)

I am on the baitcasters, the 6 f and the two 6'6 spinners. They all have 20lb braid on them, the ultra lite is running 6lb mono, and the 7 f heavy is running 20lb XT trilene line due to that rod being used at the river around rocks that will cut right into braid.

And if you cant tell, I like the ugly stik gx2 rods. They are cheap and take a pretty good beating.
