What are you doing for the interior? I like what you've done so far with the blacked out look.

I'm quite partial to the W123 chassis but those older fintails still make me yearn for one

The blackout may not happen. Just because I may just do the dark charcoal interior from a. Donor. I have to many broken parts, if I can get the interior with the dark charcoal I’ll be happy.

blackout is nice though. Just a lot of work, and durability is still up in the air.

I love the look. I wish it was a 220 with the longer hood, but this one still looks great.

@CS_AR you know any resources to find a manual for this car. Ive got some wiring someone did for an H4 conversion i want to remove. I'd like to keep all the wiring as close to original as i can. and LED 7" lights wont be needing the h4 conversion harnesses...

I'm so far from anyone in the MB world nowadays. Hey, that guy with the Youtube videos named Kent Bergsma might have a source. If anybody in the US does, it will be him.

All the valves freed up. But engine still won’t make a full revolution. Looks like heads coming off once I find parts

Would this be because of seized main bearings?

Engine spins very smoothly for 3/4 of the rotation. I believe there’s rust in cylinder number 2.

Eh we shall see. I might just pull the motor for now and put in a Toyota 4 pot and adapt the transmission just to get it running

Best thing you could do for that car and yourself is put a 350 in it with a turbo transmission

That’s the easy way out. I truely want to keep it stock. The rear setup with the swing axle means it would take a ton of work to retrofit a different suspension to put a diff that could handle more power.

Plus this chassis definitely isn’t built for big power

I understand keeping things stock but unless you’re up to spending upwards of $50k then I recommend doing the sensible thing. Plus you can put a huge cam in it and make it sound wicked

I’ve decided if I’m going custom like that it’s getting a Lexus v8. And it would be keeping it’s no power steering and what not. It would be full resto mod. But we’ll see. This cars pretty whole. Sooo time will tell what I do to it.

(ls400 engine + trans with wiring and ecu can be gad for cheap, and it weighs less than the stock stuff, double the power)

Getting the old analog stuff working with new stuff would be the hard part

That’s a cool combo. I’ve decided if my Porsche ever blows I’m going LS swap with a giant cam.

Yea I just want a really nice cruiser. That’s the goal. As much as I’d like to keep her original, parts are proving to be the hard issue to find.. I can get all the interior bits no issue, exterior bits, no problem. Engine parts.. that’s the big hurdle right now.

That’s why I recommend the Chevrolet parts. Lots of people do it. It only hurts resale to purists. Unless you plan on bringing it all the way back, which I don’t think it’s a car that’s worth it. Just drive it and make it cool and driveable
