Have a question for you tacoma owners what is your oil consumption on your V6 Tacoma.Have a 2019 with just a little over 7k miles. I had to put a quart of oil in it at 3200 miles. Notified dealer took in we changed oil. Now at 7200 miles warning light came on to add oil which I did it was at add mark on dip stick. Added oil, called my dealer am taking in on 11/3/20. It is not leaking but I think it smokes a little too much out the tail pipe for being 50 degrees out. Are these V6 motors supposed to behave like this?

Your is the first I have ever heard of to use any oil. Take it in. I've read 15-20K threads here and you are the first I have heard about.

32,000 miles on mine, never added oil or even had the dipstick read lower than when the oil was first changed. This is not right, you need to take it to the dealer.

Only aesthetic mods so far Leer 180 cap & Clazzio covers on order.
Different engine, but my '06 Taco with 126K miles uses no measurable amount of oil between services.

Not normal. All modern engines use some oil, but I've never had to add any at 29k miles. Maybe look into your PCV valve. The 5.0L V8 for Ford began consuming oil after they reworked it in 2018. Some have reported the PCV Valve was their issue.

My 17 TRD Sport never used oil between oil changes in its 134k odometer. This isn’t anything you have to “get used to”, “live with”, or “put up with”.
Don’t take any service resistance to act on your behalf from the dealer. You get any push back from the dealer, call up cooperate, they’ll deal with them while they have you on hold. Make them accountable for their product. You’re paying the mortgage.

Some engines use some oil, others don't and it doesn't necessarily hurt anything if one uses some. I've never had to add oil to my 2007 other than when changing oil. But sometimes it is getting close to needing a quart at that time.

While most use less, if you're only adding 1 quart every 3000-3500 miles I'm betting Toyota tells you that is well within what they consider acceptable. Some manufacturers don't consider it a warranty issue unless you're adding a quart every 1000 miles or less.

Pulling the spark plugs will tell you if the engine is burning oil.

Let Toyota diagnose and repair it, then let the board know what the deal was.

Your situation is not a known issue on 3rd gens, and of course doesn't have enough miles to have normal wear based consumption.

Anything any of us says here is just speculation of why at this point, but the main thing is you shouldn't be touching it for any self diagnosis or repair.

Hopefully it's simple, but that's not really likely.

    GL and keep us posted.
