Yeah passenger side I ordered right away.

Tacomaworld states 47012 driver, 4Runner states 47027 driver.

Both use the same exact diff and cv axles so that's why I just stopped for a second.

Too lazy to check Toyota diagram, so I rather drink and play COD...

 

looks like the 47012 was superseded by the 47027:

47027 should be the correct one, says it fits my truck on the dealer site anyway

Weird it says it doesn't fit my truck when I put it in, unless it just wants me to get the other one even though they're the same

For now yes. Ideally replace the belt. Do check for pulley play. This can cause belt skip too

 

Chances are you might not even need to do the seals, but really you don't find out if you should have until after the axle is reinstalled and it leaks or not. Unless the seal is visibly bad when you pull the axle. With it's mileage though it's probably best just to do them while you're in there

Some people use a seal driver tool to get them in, I tried but didn't have the room to drive the damn thing in hard enough. Ended up just getting the seal in there partially and drove it in the rest of the way with the axle itself

Ordered the other seal already.

Even though this vehicle was often maintained (especially due to the kind of guy the PO was), I doubt it needs them but they're cheap enough to have on hand if needed.

I thought people just lightly and 'evenly' tapped them in place...carefully.

My only concern would be having to buy a 34mm, 35mm, and 36mm as it seems not every one has the same size nut at the end of their axle. Then have those extra 2 sockets I'll never use again like several of my other tools.

 

I have the air cabin man ebay aisin kit so I'm doing everything but the fan pulley bracket. I just noticed the number 2 idler pulley is bad and has significant play. Camshaft pulleys seem to be fine with just a tiny play back and forth and no side play.

My roommates throw massive halloween parties every year so thankfully I found a strong enough guy inside to help me hold the pulleys in place while I took their bolts off. No way could I have done that alone without getting really creative. Dude did a great job for being drunk.

 

I want that for my fleet!

 

The axle nut should be 35mm, with all the axles I've replaced across different brands (some come with a new axle nut) they're always 35mm.

As for the seal, it took a lot more than just tapping to even get it partially in lol. That sucker is made to fit in there tight. Helps to put some gear oil around the edges.

My fear was that the seal is a little fragile feeling and hammering it too hard might damage it. It's just hard rubber really

The axle seats up against it perfectly center so it just felt better to let the axle drive it in the rest of the way

 

The entire disassembly has required cleaning up what's left behind from this trucks mud/water submersion. Really slows things down. A new motor would've been the best choice but something about running this one to death just appeals to me.

I used my air impact to get pulley bolts off.

I made the mistake of trying to remove the bolt for the Nissan passenger cam without the timing belt. I spun it with the impact and probably hit the pistons with the valve haha

 

I want an agua fresca but it's 1:40 AM

 

I'm waiting on the right deal on a Milwaukee 1/2 impact. I'd go air tools again (compressor guy at my house never got over what he was mad about) but the right compressor won't be cheap. Sand blasting really pushes you into the commercial grade stuff. That's a big yikes on the Nissan. What's the status on it right now?
