I have 2009 Tacoma trying to make my dlrs clear and turn signals amber. I have the switch back led bulbs in my sockets. But I only have two wires going to the socket a yellow and a white with a black tracer I think is ground. How does the drl and turn signal share the same wire? Why isn’t it a three wire socket? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

You need to make sure your switchbacks are labeled CK. You need to make sure they’re amber/off/amber and not amber/white/amber. You need a LED flasher. I prefer the SmartTap flasher for all the added features. If you presently have factory DTRL, you need to eliminate it by replacing the 3 way flasher harness with the grey plastic jumper block. You need to add a 3rd wire pigtail to the front turn signal sockets and wire it to key switched power. Now you will have white DTRL and amber turn signals.

There seems to be a lot of different brands and types to select from. Do you know of a suitable bulb that would work for me?

This is the guy that I have bought most of my LEDs from. He’s awesome to deal with and really knowledgeable. Send him a message and tell him you need CK front turnsignal switchbacks that are amber/off/amber for your Tacoma. He will be able to tell you which ones will fit in the housings. Some LEDs are too long for the front turnsignals.

For the turn signal sockets, there’s only 2 terminals in the socket. You need to add a 3rd terminal and wire it so it’s energized when you turn the key on.

So... you tie your third wire to the ground of the park/mkr light for switched power?

If you tie your 3rd wire into the park lights, your new white DTRLs will only light when the park or headlights are on. If you want true DTRL, you need to wire it to a key switched source.

I have my fuse block out and my flasher is a 12 pin. I went auto parts and got an led flasher and its 8 pin. Not sure what to do now?

You missed this part in my 1st post. You need to buy the grey plastic jumper block from Toyota.

Thank you! I forgot about doing away with the pig tail the flasher plugs directly into box. I’m a little slow sometimes on directions! Lol!

Or cut the nipple off the firewall grommet, and run a wire to 1 of the several good places in the underdash fuse box. Then you don’t need a relay.

So, I hope you don’t need your truck to go to work tomorrow, because you’re not going to be able to buy the jumper block today.

Yes I did have the new junction block. Now it’s all plugged in. Now all I have to do is wire the third wire to ignition and I will be finished.
