Ha Ha Ha yours looks like you spent all day Saturday cleaning up.

I can just get the overhead door closed in front of the front bumper .

 

The sad part is I have 75' behind the door to the back wall!!

 

I put mine on an og craftsman bench grinder and it works good. When I try to stall it, it wants to just keep pushing and grab and throw the metal. It doesn’t take much pressure to take material off

 

They ended up giving it to me for free because they said he would have wanted me to have it. I tried to hand over the cash multiple times but it was refused.

 

I kind of wondered if something like that would occur.

Haha, I guess I had some good karma out there then. The one stipulation was if they ever need anything welded that I help them out and of course I am glad to do that.

 

My ESAB REBEL 205 High Frequency board died again, not sure if its been a year since the last time.. Thing is I barely used it since. I mean barely..

Luckily still under warranty.
Told the welding shop manager I wanted a new one and didn't want it "repaired" again and in the shop for months..
I asked him to do what it took to get me a new one, and he did some talking up the chain to the Vice President over one of the departments.. He agreed I should get a new one. Hopefully It'll only be a couple of weeks.. The VP said it was one of the machines in the first run and he thought they should recall them all..

Mine is basically brand new, It be hard to tell the difference between a new one, that's how good of condition it's in, even still has the plastic on the screen.. The only thing I did with it is AC TIG.

It's unfortunate how some of the lower level warranty folks at ESAB are treating/handling the issues with the machines.

I'm considering another brand/machine, something with pulse AC TIG etc..
But maybe the new one won't have any issues, just wish it had pulse AC TIG, I'd also like to do a water cooled torch setup.

Anyway figured I'd share.

 

Esab not surprising !!

If your supposed to get a new machine . it should be days not weeks.

Ask about your Warranty in most cases!!! it is only as long as the original one.( In most cases this is not stated)

Which can lead to some interesting times when the end user finds out a major failure is not covered.

If someone says it is a new warranty get it in writing from someone that has the authority to make it so .

That’s a good point. He always told me I needed to pay forward what he taught me and teach someone else how to weld and that’s what I plan to do. First I need to regain the skill myself first though I hope you all are ready to critique my bad welds!

Yeah you're right, it should be days.. I guess part of me is OK with waiting instead of them trying to just repair the lemon I bought.

Also I agree I need to get the renewed warranty with new machine in writing. The welding shop manager did say I would get the 3yr warranty with the new one, but I def need that in writing from ESAB.

In all seriousness if you’re ever in AZ I could certainly teach you the little bit I know.

 

Had a time dialing in my biddy's miller and most of that is just due to me only kind of knowing what I'm doing but added some db decreasers to the ol' exhaust. Best looking welds still look like trash they are better in the exhaust hanger just because its thicker I guess. Doesnt really matter because no one is gonna see it anyway ig.

 

Doesnt look bad to me. Exhaust welding is just sheet metal welding. Thin iron is a bitch! You can very seldom "carry" a bead welding thin iron. Those look great.

 

I had to cut the 90° off on the end and reweld the hanger on and so when I butt welded the 90 back on I literally just tacked a circle and waited till it just stopped glowing red and tacked another all the way around. I watched a video on "xtreme 4x4" or something like that where they used that trick on something to keep from burning through everything. It actually looks as good or better than the bead on that slip joint just because I stayed on center target a little better lol

 

Had a free day for once, so I used it to practice welding 3/16" open corners on some scrap metal. Tried different settings, techniques, etc.., and just tried to be more consistent. The cube got coated in Steel-it and got taken by my daughter to keep on her desk.
