Yeah. I just dumped them again while in my stand and 2 does came in. Luckily, the strong wind helped me out.

I got a big surprise a couple of years ago on one of my first trips out to scout in Mississippi when I was checking out a swamp and walked up an alligator. Hasn't happened since because I have avoided swampy areas since that... till earlier this week when I found a swampy area with more deer than I have ever seen down here. Glad I don't have to worry about all that in Missouri.

I love me some swamps! Don't think I'd care much for sharing one with a gator tho.

A guy I know had one under his stand one time. I bet it was real loud coming through. Armadillos are some of the loudest animals to me because they are so low to the ground.

I have applied to hunt them down here the last three years because I am considered in state for wildlife permit purposes but I have never been lucky enough to be drawn.

I’ve had Armadillos scare the living shit out of me while hunting. They are loud on a night in the stand

Two years ago I had the tree line (at about 15 yards) in my sight with my Apple Watch telling me that my heart rate was elevated.. all because something sounded big right next to where I was hog hunting. Come to find out it was just an armadillo making a ruckus in the leaves

I have heard they get some pretty good air when you shoot them. Might have to see for myself sometime. Heard they can also do some damage if you run over them...good thing I have skid plates. They make a good ruckus under there though.

FML.....First day of vacation. Forecast? Partly sunny, highs in the mid 40's, winds out of the NW at 30 fmph, with gusts to 40.:angrygirl: Tuesday and Wednesday are OK, but temps start creeping into the upper 60's the end of the week and the winds are screwy. Sure does look pretty though.... Gray clouds skipping by, all the fall colors in contrast to the dark clouds...

Me too. Hunted this one state game land that was a re-claimed farm. Really neat spot. Anyhow, there was about a 10 acre or so swamp on the back side. Unfortunatley the prevailing winds were not good to hunt it. The border was ringed with scrapes, rubs and trails. When the winds were out of the east or south, it was THE place to hunt.

Saw 9 does and one small buck thids morning. Drew back on a doe but then remembered I'd have to get her out of there so I changed my mind.

I had a hell of a time packing mine out. quartered it up, loins, backstraps, neck, and some of the bigger scraps around the ribs. thought it would be easy because I had about 300 yards to go to a paved exercise path than another 3/4 of a mile but it is flat and only took me about 20 minutes to get into a tree from leaving my truck.

I was very wrong. Should have had a 60L pack instead of a 30 because carrying a full quartered out deer in your arms sucks. I need a deer cart.

To think I almost shot another doe when the group circled back... would have been a long day.
