The early "mini trucks" were so cool. Could you post a current picture of the truck?

I drove my buddies 19 off road AT and it drove perfectly fine, not my cup of tea though obviously. I dont know what all these people are bitching about, AT is meant to shift and it will shift, dont see the issue.

I also dont think MT is superior to modern AT. AT will shift faster, smoother and get better MPGs. MT will be cheaper to own in the long run IMO. But i honestly just cant stand ATs, i feel exactly like your guy in the avatar.

the title of this thread is "Those with Manual Transmission...why?" not "Those with Automatic Transmission...why" I see no reason for the auto people to even comment. It was not a discussion of which is better/worse but the OP just asked a questions of why, WE, manual people chose them. There's plenty of threads that the manual/auto owners go back and forth...…...

I’m in the category of ‘Driving is Fun’. My daily driver is a Ford F550 with a service body and 40’ bucket on it. Just this morning on my way back from a call I drove PCH south along the coast for 30 minutes. At sunrise. I had a huge grin the whole way. :D

    It's fun.

I'm responsible for whether it's in the right gear or not.

    It has a real key.

    Nobody wants to borrow it.

It was an accident....my dealer kept calling and emailing me with better and better deals on trading in my '15 Sport 4.0 auto, decided to test drive a cement Sport they had available, it was alright, the nifty features my '15 didn't have available were nice, auto trans shifted a whole bunch and seemed confused. I liked the looks of it, but all in all was going to keep my '15. Then salesguy told me about the same truck but with manual that just came in....yeah, we'll take that for a drive. Well, after not having had a manual since my '02 Mustang GT it felt awesome to shift for myself again. Feels like home.

If you don't like "hearing" what's being said then plug your ears or change the channel sparky.

You drove it for a short trip and Suddenly your a expert..? keep the truck for a week and then comment otherwise please don’t make stupid comments of stuff you don’t have a clue about . The auto shifts very erratic sometimes fine other times can’t decide what dam gear it wants to be in .

If “fun” and manual transmission don’t resonate with you then you don’t understand why we chose our transmission. I grew up driving manuals and decided to come back to them because autos are boring. My Tacoma definitely puts a smile on my face every time I drive it and hopefully yours does too. To each his own.

Well we auto people see no reason that you manual people need to barge into every conversation to brag about how your getting such a good workout “rowin gears” and that you’re really getting the “full driving experience” we don’t care. I’m glad you all have a “millennial anti theft device” however driving a stick isn’t as hard, crazy, rare and cool as you all think. You’re not some really awesome dying breed goin down swingin. We get it you like driving a manual, I like to as well on occasion. We just don’t need to hear about it constantly.

Haha! I actually have never driven a 3rd gen manual and would be curious to do so. I really could care less what anybody drives but I think the whole debate and arguments about it as well as the manual owner superiority complex is pretty ridiculous.

DWD484 wrote - Sparky, lol!!... Where did you get that i didn’t like hearing anything about anything? I actually like hearing about people having fun driving to work a lot because it makes me laugh that someone might think, “Shit, I have to go to my boring job today, but a least I’ll have fun driving there”, LOL. That’s fucking funny! & i also think that laughing is fun... You, on the other hand, can’t read very well. Maybe instead of taking a portion of what i said, read the entire thing so that you better understand exactly what i meant. I get that reading comprehension can be difficult for some, but you have to at least try to comprehend things. It can serve you well in life.

Oh, & using the “quote” feature is much easier than whatever the hell you’ve got going on. Is that “copy & paste”?

Ya know Sparky I really like you. Were you born unhappy or does someone urinate in your Wheaties every morning ?? Is there anything I can do to cheer you up ?

Now now Sparky, It looks like you aren't having any trouble at all following this thread so let's leave the quote button alone okaaaay ? And that language of yours, what will all the women and children Tacoma lovers think when that stuff comes spewing from your mouth ? Surely your mother taught you better than that......

My first 3rd gen. Taco was / is a 2016 TRD sport 2Wheel Dr. with automatic. OMG what a disappointment, went threw all the TSBs, and it got better. After thirty months and 18000mi . I sent it to my farm manager.
So now I have a 2019 TRD sport with a Manuel Shift, I was told the only way I could get it was it had to have 4WD. This to is somewhat a disappointment, it is clunky, and obnoxious to use. I have done a Accumulator Delete modification, and added a Quick shifter. Better but not grate. I am spoiled, I own a 1972 Corvette with a 4sp. man. that was designed in the early 60,s the clutch has been replaced twice, the car has close to 300000
miles on it, it shifts buttery smooth. Is Toyota that far behind in Quality?

I drove it a few times, city and highway. They were not short trips, i was curious what's all this bitching about. Its an AT with 2 OD gears, it will shift a lot. Im sure some of the earlier calibrations were worse that others, but its nothing like TW makes it out to be.

So you are just gonna be a dick, make assumptions and tell me that I am making stupid comments on stuff i have no clue about? Cool. Go have a beer, relax its just internet.
