Hello everyone, it's been a while since I posted but I've been reading many great posts.
Today I took my 2007 Tacoma in for the new floor mats and gas pedal fix based on the recall. Yesterday I had my truck in at my local shop. He noticed the vibs and found the above T-SB. I took the T-SB to Toyota today. They drove my truck and our now going through with the T-SB. I've heard that it doesn't fix all vibs but I'm happy Toyota is willing to give it a shot. You guys have likely heard about this T-SB before so I would appreciate any feedback.
The T-SB is from 2008 I believe. I had my truck checked out by Toyota back in March 2010.They acknowledged the vibs but fixed nothing and charged me $90.00. They must have known about this T-SB. Do any of you think I should attempt to get my money back? If so, how?
I will update you guys tomorrow after the truck is completed..if anyone cares.

Just a reminder- I have vibs at 20 and 40 mph that go completely away in 4X4. I've done all the tire rotations and swaps recommended. I put in a slight CB drop which helped a bit at 20mph but not the 40mph.

My truck is going in on Wednesday for detailing and fixing my speedometer maybe I can mention this see if they will look at it.

What do they actually do with this TSB? What gets installed or modified?

Technical Service Bulletin. It basically means they know there's a problem but they're not doing a recall because not enough people have complained about it yet...

Gotcha so if I go in and say something and they say they know nothing about it then I'm helping?

    Ill make mention of it.

Do we know the cause of it?

I see some people saying their vibes are BAD I'm thankful mine are very light and only happen random times, or thats when I feel them.

Is your truck in warranty? If it is...and was when they checked and acknowledged the vib's...I have no idea why they charged you for it!

In that case yes, absolutely take them to account for it!

I think it's the rear transmission mount TSB...correct? Maybe they COULD have known about it, but probably didn't. It's probably impossible to know about every TSB against every model/year of every vehicle they service.

I think that TSB is for a resonance at low speed and a redesigned mount to cancel it out. And yes...would like very much to hear how the fix works out for you!

I understand this fix is covered under the 6/60K and it's written as such in the TSB.

Terminology, but a recall is usually only done when it's safety related. If it's not,,, just a TSB.

I'm the same as you, mine are slight and intermittent but have gotten worse in the last 3 months. If there's a TSB out for it, I want to know what it corrects to see if it would correct my problem or not.

Because it's not a recall, certain dealerships are more apt to dig in their heels and not perform the work and make you prove to them the problem exists. If they can't duplicate the problem, they may not do the work. Not all their Tacoma's are affected which is another reason they're not recalls.

Ok just so I understand, if my truck is under warranty they will fix it by replacing that mount (if that is my problem). Sorry not trying to thread jack.

I Have the 100k mile warranty.

Gotcha man seeing all these things wrong with the tacomas is really making me doubt my purchase of a taco. I love her, she is running good but I feel like its a matter of time before things start going wrong :lol

Might be a concern, but what are you going to replace it with that hasn't seen it's share of problems?

IMO, this generation of Tacoma isn't any better (or worse for that matter) are far as bugs and reliability than practically anything else (asbestos underwear ON!! ), but so far it definitely does benefit from less depreciation then the others.

Just to be clear, I like my Tacoma, but I've had as many issues with it as I had with my last two trucks, a Dodge and a Chevy. So from my experience,,, just another truck, except with higher resale at the end.

Make sure you guys print out the T-SB before going in. I've heard of some dealerships not "locating" the T-SB's in their system. Have a copy with so they don't have to look for it.

I'm not sure who made the post about being frustrated about their truck. Although these vibs are frustrating and I've had the seat squeak and the fan squeak (all I've fixed or made the noise go away for now) I still love my truck. I've taken it on a 3,000 mile road trip and now drive it in the snow with no issues. It's been super reliable with a slight vibration and they look great. I will take that for now.

Yes, my truck is under warranty AND I have a leveling kit on it with Skyjacker installed so it's not stock. They didn't say a thing. Do you guys know if I should go to the dealer for my refund of $90 or should I notify Toyota directly?

    Here's a list...

    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2nd...ta-tacoma.html

Try googling the TSB you'll be surprised what you can find...I was! And yes, warranty will cover the repair; this is even noted in the TSB:

    APPLICABLE WARRANTY
    • This repair is covered under the Toyota Powertrain Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 60
months or 60,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle’s in-service date.
    • Warranty application is limited to correction of a problem based upon a customer’s specific
    complaint.

Oh yes...these TSB's are copyright protected...just an FYI. Most companies will make a site take them down if found.

I'd try the dealer first, referencing the TSB. If they don't do anything for you, then go up the food chain.

Alright, had to wait one day to get my truck back. Not bad compared to the 6 weeks some have had to wait. They took care of the recall and completed the T-SB.
As I pulled out of the lot I thought I felt the vibs at 20 mph and then again at 40mph. After leaving the lot I couldn't fell the 20 mph vibs at all. Just to be sure I drove on a new patch of roadway near my home. Couldn't feel the 20mph vibs at all. The 40 mph vibes feel like they want to vib, if that makes sense, but they didn't.
The best part is my wife just got back from the grocery store. She walked in with her head down stating she did something to the truck. I walked into the garage and there in the center of the windshield is the fattest rock chip I've ever seen. This is her third time!!! I really didn't care but man is that rock chip huge. Lovin my insurance right now.
Anywho, for now it appears the T-SB worked. Now I'm going to try and get my $90.00 back from Toyota. So, for many of you who are having these same stressful issues there is light at the end of the tunnel I hope. I'm just happy to see that Wilson Toyota here in town completed the work no questions asked. Make sure you have the T-SB printed out when you go in. That is key. I will post again if the vib comes back. I will check this post periodically so keep the questions coming. Good luck to you guys.
