Anybody know a good option for a HCRB with swing out tire carrier/ option to run hitch bike rack? I want more clearance but need to carry a bunch of bikes.

So just basic firebird vs Capra first impression. Firebird pedals a hell of a lot better even open. Capra seems to soak up small bumps slightly better. Who knows how much different it would be if spec same.

either way the firebird doesn’t feel enduro sized compared to Capra. However firebird is a medium Capra was a large.

both have pros and cons I’d say. For Alabama though the firebird wins Bc pedaling

I'm dropping my LBS, just giving up. I won't wind a long tale here, and we all know about the bike shortage. Basically not listening to the customer, reacting as if you are on top of things when clearly you aren't and trying to sell something the customer doesn't want. Tons of bike shops in Redmond, Woodinville, Bothell, Kirkland, Bellevue and beyond.

I live in Redmond... curious which shop you are frustrated with? (if you don't mind sharing)

Funny... i didn't even know there was a shop in Duvall.

Near you... a couple to maybe try. My son used to Work at Element in Redmond. I find them a bit hit or miss service wise sometimes, but they are a good bunch of guys and will make good deals. Progressive Cycle on Plateau is awesome for service. I've also been a fan of Montlake bikes for years.

Just some unasked for advice/recos :)

New TW member here and avid cyclist (motor and bicycle variety)... been following this thread for awhile.

Glad I'm not the only one - my road bike has been out of service for over a month now. No updates, just "yeah we're getting to it."

In the meantime, I've been hitch mount rack shopping, and since ya'll have some nice bikes, I figured someone would have a recommendation for someone who'd be mortified if their bike got dinged by a rack :) I think I've settled on Kuat but open to any suggestions or tips.

Kuat is great... but 1up is the only way to go IMO. Look in this thread and you'll see all the recos for this rack. Pricey but worth it. And no, never on sale :)

    https://www.1up-usa.com/

Sadly, looks like they are pretty heavily backordered.

Glad I asked, these look perfect. I'm willing to pay the premium for peace of mind!

I ordered on 10/18 and it’s supposedly out for delivery if the FedEx truck makes it by today.

so 10/18 to 11/1 isn’t too bad lead time.

1Up makes a great product. Just don’t run it year round in winter conditions where they salt the roads. There’s a current thread on another site where a guy has had one on his vehicle for five years and some bolts are now frozen from corrosion. If you do run it year round in these conditions may I suggest saving yourself the heart ache by installing anti seize on the hardware holding it together early on.

Well received 1 of 2 boxes. The bike racks will come in tomorrow according to fedex.

Do your research. Assembled in America vs made in America is something I’m willing to pay a premium for.

Google domestic bike racks and import fees. I’ll give you a hint. Küat, Thule, and yakima was against. That’s about as loosely as I can talk on the forums about it.

Fun times at the bike park today. No issue with the hardtail. Ended up buying an annual pass on the spot.

    Which bike park? State etc.

We need more explanations per post people. I sometimes read through here like I’m in a fog, or on a need to know basis. ;)

Thank you, in Lake Arrowhead. Been to the area having lived in San Diego for many years but it was before that bike park was there.
