Why TRD? Just the brand? TRD use smaller diameter tube compared to DT and JBA

    Hey! @02hilux
Good questions. Honestly, I'm ready to purchase a set of Thorley's, but from my understanding; the TRD headers are a direct fit to the two-cat factory exhaust set up for the 01-04 Tacoma's.
And please (anyone) correct me if I am wrong, but the DT and JBA headers would require me to have a new exhaust flange made/welded inorder for me to connect them to my existing 2 cat exhaust?

Nope. There was a corrected y-pipe for these that made them fit the 01-04s that’s a bigger unicorn than the headers. I think @QMEDJoe got the last one one Earth.

Yes sir I did! It might have been you or someone else on TW who found the part# for me and possibly even the website. I called the guy and he said they appeared to have one left and it took him a day or two to find it. My truck was just in a flood in Louisiana and may or may not start when I get to it (currently at sea) if so I already have my eye on a cream puff 1st gen. The only sucky part about swapping parts is the TRD headers to the new truck and stock ones onto mine.

    Damn you @QMEDJoe !
Hahaha, just kidding! Right on brotha! Glad to hear someone made use out of that last unicorn.
Sorry to hear about that truck though. Hope that cream puff 1st gen is filled with lots of delicious filling!

Anyone know is those Doug Thorley's headers need a custom flange to be fabricated in order for them to fit up to the stock 2 cat exhaust?
I honestly don't mind having my local exhaust shop remove both cats and replacing them with a high flow magnaflow cat.

Thanks bud, I’m hoping waters only went as high as in the pic and not into my intake. The part that really scares me is that the frame was soaking in saltwater for several hours which to me says it’s time to look for a new 1st gen.

Too late, that ended in 2019 for the 2004 Tacomas (frame swap program was good for 15 years from vehicles in-service date). His 03's chance was up in 2018

Toyota is no longer replacing frames on 1st gens

It didn't mate to my single cat exhaust.

Unfortunately, I’m still at sea and my truck is still sitting there. I know the frame was soaking in saltwater for a day or so. I’m scheduled for crew change in three weeks. I think in a perfect world my truck still starts because there is too much invested in that truck for me to take a check from the insurance company unless they want to cut me a check for $15k
