This is attached to the upper drivers side of the windshield, I’m still trying to learn this little guy, and what options have been added to it. If it helps, the previous owner installed a Pioneer NEX screen in place of the OEM screen. Still trying to learn it!!!D8BA377D-82C3-4405-8969-4EBE1D7E3B69.jpg

Well that makes sense. It has a remote start, but, it’s on the Toyota key fob. Thanks, I’ll be posting more questions, as there are several add ones, but, no manuals or receipts.

It would probably be wise to figure out what you have now.
It wouldn’t be fun if you had to have a battery replaced or something, only to find out that the alarm system won’t let the truck start with out some type of reset procedure.

Let us know what you have, and we’ll try to help you the best we can.

Thanks! That’s the conclusion I had come to, after Googling everything. A lot more Tacoma brain power right here:amen:

Next Question! The previous owner said that the tailgate was keyed the same as the ignition, however the tailgate doesn’t seem to be able to be locked or unlocked. There is a Leer topper with a box on the left side of the topper with one circuit marked lock/ unlock. I don’t believe the tailgate has an electronic lock, but, I’m starting to think I need to start tracing wires.

Does the Key lock/unlock the tailgate?
I would look for extra wires going into the tailgate.

Or I suppose you could trace wires, or take off the inside panel of the tail gate and look?
My truck didn’t come with a rear camera, so I can’t help you as to what wires are what in the tailgate.

Thanks. Many add ons in this truck were done by a third party service center, along with a stereo installation, that the wiring is starting to drive me crazy!

The key partially turns each way, but doesn’t really do anything. I suppose I’ll be pulling the tailgate cover off to see what I have.

My guess is it that it's a Pop-n-Lock tailgate handle lock. Those only takes a quarter of a turn to lock/unlock. You should be able to hear it lock/unlock unless it's faulty.

I don’t hear or feel anything, so, I’m back to opening up the back of the tailgate. It just doesn’t feel right, even after squirting some graphite in the key hole. Another puzzle, but, it’s getting to be firewood cutting season:annoyed: What do you mean by pop and lock?
