Looks like you had a lot more space to the right than I did, especially if you are in neutral in that pic. When I'm in neutral, my shifter is almost centered in the console, if not slightly to the right. Also, my transmission shifter doesn't lend to either side. It looks like your leans a little to the left. I thought about modifying the transmission shifter to position it like yours, but ultimately I couldn't get the t-case shifter to not hit the console without modifying it. So I chose to only mod one of them.

cuz he is using the fj cruiser 6spd shifter which has more of a drivers slant to it than the tacoma's 6spd shifter

    Yep.
Little late, but for reference... Hurst 5spd shifter with the stock FJ case shifter work without any contact

Thanks. My FJ shifter was still hitting the right side of the console pretty hard. I would have had to modify it either way.

Started mine last night, everything was going smooth until I went to put the case back together. A small ball bearing fell out somewhere. Then we picked up the case and could hear a "ting, ting" when lifted and tilting.

that sucks, on the plus side the case looks really clean inside! Did you lose one of the synchro keys or possibly a shift detent ball?

So we have a problem.. We knew this before we pulled it apart, thought we might find the issue while in there. No 4LO.. Shift dead stops in NEUTRAL.

Did you bench test it? Much easier to troubleshoot on a workbench than under a truck.

Prior to diassemby we had no 4LO. After we still no 4LO. Thought it might need more pressure to engage. Now it is in the truck and Im running out of time for a MOAB trip.

It's setup as a J-shift, not twin sticked? Have you tried various combos of D and N?
