I could only move it a few thousandths as well. I did however bend the large punch monte bent all those years ago back to straight lol

 

The new tool to use is a ground down prybar. Works way better.

 

I have hardened punches that worked fine for my Icons.

 

Obviously I was unclear. It was easy to move the ring - we had the shock in the spring compressor, and so no pressure from the coil. I was giving Mike a hard time b/c he knew how many thousandths he wanted to move the ring up the body. I've always just counted threads.

You probably di change the ride height. But it was only by a few .001". Todays change, lowered the right front about ~.5"

The real problem is when the shock is on the truck there is just no room to work. The resi hardware is right in the way and the adjustment ring does not have enough holes in it.

 

What surprised me most, well, other than driving down your alley and finding a brannick spring compressor mounted to a telephone pole, was how little the spring had to be compressed to relieve the tension.

 

Today is a red letter day. Those of you whom have witnessed or been a part of fabrication projects at my house know that the vise is strictly a nomadic and floor dwelling fixture. But no longer I say! It now has a home, one which I painstakingly beat into submission so that it would fit sturdily.





You can barely even see where my mallet and punch destroyed the powdercoat on the bench.

I spent the afternoon coming up with some ditch light brackets that are on the mirrors. Prototype is going well.



The hardware and mounting bracket for these lights sucks though. Won't actually tighten down which is annoying.

 

So we got to test the new Millimeter Wave 5G, you're not reading that wrong. We actually pulled 3gigabit per sec on the next one but didn't screenshot it

 

Wow I thought it was only supposed to be 1 gigabit?? Haven't seen anything near that high.

Probably because not a lot of people are using it though.

But cool! Be years before I see that haha

 

They have gotten around 70gbps in labs with 5g.

But most deployed 5g is in the 700mbps to 1gig range. But pretty much all the players in 5g have state their plans are to eventually get up to 10gig speeds and to expand 5g from just cell service into isp service for home.

What's crazy is the towers only have a range of 1500 feet (least when it first came out).


I'm more excited for Starlink since I might actually see that service lol

Yeah the range is not good. Some cities will see the benefits more than we will.


And elon musk can go fuck himself with starlink. Not happy about that personally. will single handily ruin our night skys. Plus..bit of a bummer to have internet literally everywhere.

 

I remember watching people when t mobile first out 5g towers in NYC. Signal was great unobstructed. But stand under an umbrella and it would drop to 4g

Starlink is definitely a love hate. The potential benefit for having that internet "everywhere" isn't a bad thing. The wife has worked in remote places in AK where the internet was prohibidly expensive with slow speeds and crap data caps (like 10gb a month). Being able to have Starlink in those places would be huge.

Its not just "on paper" anymore. its already out there in beta. People are actually using it and its been working quite well. We are well past the point of stopping it at this point.

I was against it for the same reason as you guys but now that its here and actually working...the potential benefits and talking to people/groups who will truly benefit from it...itll bring good (potentially...like everything it depends how its truly deployed)
