Weekend before last took the kid out to Hiddenite NC area for some rockhounding. Pissed rain Friday night and all day Saturday, so we bailed on that, packed up wet, and decided to go explore near hurricane creek area since I had never been over there. Found a lot of back roads with minivans and Subaru's out looking at foliage, but not much for excitement. Ended up finding a sweet little spot across the river below the dam that looks like is popular with the locals... It was perfect considering it was getting on towards the end of the day and we needed to camp. Managed to burn most of our firewood before we got some more rain so we hit the hay early to get out of the weather. It poured for heavily for hours till finally at about 1am we said screw it and folded up the tent at dragged our sorry asses home..

Still had a great time and found some places we want to go back and explore some more..

My favorite time of year as well. I did, just keep getting sidetracked and it took forever. JBA high caster uca's, mevotech lowers using the bushings and lbj's they ship with, greasable outer tie rod ends, and all new cam bolt hardware. It made all the difference in the world! Still need to tidy some things up and see what all I'm gonna have to trim afterwards. Im so dang tired of hearing my tire grab the flare, and I'm sure I'll need a cmc as well.

Thats great! Do you remember what your alignment specs were? Here are mine. I had it done at ‘Rock Your 4x4’ here in Knoxville. It was only $70 and he knew exactly how a lifted toyota should be which really helped the rub.. i have a cmc and hammered down pinch weld, but i was still was rubbing occasionally with 34s. Now if i cut the wheel hard and am backing up a hill and accelerate while reversing which compresses the front enough i can make it rub but i just know to go slow in that situation lol.

My UCAs are at +2 degrees caster, and the rest is done with the cam bolts on LCAs.

The first alignment at a corner shop after doing the lca swap was not very good, so when i had my lca frame gussets welded in is when i had it redone to above specs by Rock Your 4x4... definitely not going anywhere else after seeing the difference.

I took mine to Firestone in Alcoa there is a tech there that was highly recommended. I got away with very minimal rubbing for years with stock sport wheels and a 255/80r17 but now I have different wheels and 285s so it's time to get some stuff out of the way. It is better now post parts and alignment, doesnt rub daily driving unless I'm in the same scenario you mentioned.

Y’all need more caster. My last alignment on the Tacoma was at 4.2 dr and 4.3 pass. And that was with 35’s

I think I am in the sweet spot. Last two wheeling trips were perfect.. I guess when I go with the new MT/Rs LT275 /80 R17 I will see how it looks..

I feel like thats pretty solid. I know alot of people like the 3.2-3.5 range. I hit two alignment shops in my area and neither were impressing me. The first, a dedicated alignment shop didn't know what thrust angle was when I was trying to get my FJ aligned, and the second shop smashed down my alignment tab...:notsure:

I dig the 255/80s, I have a set of KM2s I put on my FJ for Wheeling and they fit great with no chop or trimming..
