Good info. I value the opinion of you both pretty highly. Nothing is firm for me yet anyway. The new wheelset route is the most out of pocket option on the table. Still looking at a couple other frames that will cost me $0.

62596497868__BE6EDE1C-AAD6-4B14-8DE4-D5E7C3FAADC6.jpg Anyone want to help brainstorm/ offer some advice / Do's / don'ts ? I have only ever had hitch racks so the alternatives are uncharted waters and my eyes and brain are hurting from research/ thinking.

I apologize in advance for the long winded post but am hoping to communicate the options I have already eliminated :).

I am currently in the process of the budget biker/ dad with one toddler/ another on the way and exhausting all (Cheap but creative) Resources to stay in our adventure tacoma as we grow the fam. Because we are prioritizing bed space for the dog/camping gear I would like to have full access to the bed and a swing out isn't desirable because with littles (And their friends) Running around I don't want to turn off the backup parking/safety alarms.

Our retrax topper came with the truck when we bought it and we LOVE it, water tight and secure we wanted to keep it so I narrowed it down to a bed rack that would mount over the retrax, Found a member giving away a rack similar to all pros and bought some used RCI tonneau adapters and a buddy and I mated them together to fit over my retrax which I love how it turned out. The top of the rack I want to reserve for a cargo basket/ sky box for extra storage so I was looking into some of the side mounted rack options.

Does anyone have any input on how I could accommodate this? My two front running options for now were either welding up a bracket I could run a Thule side arm along both sides or finding some RCI adapters and putting a fork mount on both sides. I like the convenience of the sidearm but it worries me that I haven't found anyone who has done something similar minus one guy one mtbr who used a yakima rack under his topper.

Regardless I appreciate the input from my fellow shredders. Picture for what I am working with.

Horrible Camera Angle, sorry guys. It's the Hero9 with Max Lens.

I think i'm going to use my phone and test some footage and once I get the camera in desired position just take a marker and draw a line over the mount to always line up here.

Anybody want to go 12 speed for cheap? I've got a GX 12 Speed setup for $150. Cassette, chain, derailleur, and shifter

What you’re describing has been done before. @E-Paz 732NJ didn’t you weld on some arms to a bed rack?

You have to flip the camera upside down to get the proper angle

Take it all or nothing. It's used and currently on my chromag. Probably could use a new chain

It's upside down, I simply didn't check camera angle using live view on phone before committing for the day.

I need to record some around the yard and then make either a line with marker or notch with knife to always line camera up at that spot.

do it, but you'll have to buy a XD insert. So make sure your hubs will accept that from the HG hub, i believe your bike came stock with SX?

edit: I guess honda50r didn't state rather it was the 10-50/52 cassette or not.

That’s a great idea. I filmed out in Moab recently and I forgot to buckle my chest strap on my hydration bladder and it ruined most of my footage.

@paleh0rse you upgraded your dt350 to 54t recently right? How does it feel, worth the $100?

Basically what I came down to for price/weight/strength balance after tons of research and talking to multiple builders. I ended up going with SpeedGearBike for the build. Those were the three he suggested for my needs. Wouldn't really commit to one of them being better than the other and said they were all very similar. In fact he said they all weight about exactly the same in his real world experience vs stated weights. The Stans seems to be the "softest" and the lowest build quality. A couple builders really praised the RF ARC but they had the most hit and miss reviews. Spanks seem to come very true out of the box. In the end I went Spank 350 for the non-decal labeling and a color that matched what I was after. No complaints. They've held up great and stayed true even built with Sapim D-light spokes.

DT Swiss has some great rims but they are generally more expensive than the competition which is why many shy away. The EX511 is the go-to rim for burly enduro builds it seems though.

Nice quick ride yesterday. My mileage is way down after having a baby, so the legs and lungs were feeling it! Beautiful Nov 1 in the PNW!

Thanks for advice about ridewrap installation y'all.

Planning on picking up the bike and installing it right away so it's as clean as it can be. Going to install it inside my apartment on a stand with lots of beer in hand... Now I just need to find that coffee PBR stuff lol.

    Cheers y'all.
