Manana- , I’m hoping to try Clearlake. I’ll launch at the State Park. I still need to eyeball the weather.

Its still pretty warm/sunny up there from looking at the weather. Sunny and mid-80s sounds great to me. Not too hot or chilly.

Clearlake today was tough. I was headed to my third consecutive SKUNK when I noticed a tiny stick poking out of the water.....no one else was catching.
I sent in a drop shot and got tapped hard. Hmmmm..wacky SENKO? I hooked up,and lost it. I almost cried. But I pulled up my big boy pants and casted again. Whammy! I pulled out 8 good fish today! Zero dinks. Clearlake bass are the hardest pulling bass ever. They never quit. They even thrash in the net. I think one of them was a four pounder! Finding that underwater tree was key. Best thing about the kayak. You’re so slow you notice the little things.

I’m beat down tired. And yes. The new LUCKY HAT.

I got skunked at Berryessa. Was a tough day. Had a bad string of luck lately on the water. My brother caught a nice 3.10lb large mouth but it was at the end of the day on a jerkbait.
Hoping to dust the skunk off this weekend on some lake trout.

Tough day here too. All damn day halibut fishing and not even a bite (from a fish). Bird dove down and went after my live anchovy. Pole danced like it was a BIG striper. At least I got a perfect hook set in its beak

How was the surrounding area. Total char?

you launch a boat? Was it crowded? Tempted to check that lake out next. You see a lot of kayakers? I’m kinda waiting for a launch closer to the island to open up.

It’s all char. Took awhile to get back there with the construction too. Capell and Spanish are open.

theres zero launches in the area of the islands. you're better off when the day use areas open to park and toss your yak in there

It really wasn’t that bad. Small bird, haven’t seen many like em around. I had been watching him dive around our bait for awhile. Netted him, held wings back with the net, and hook shank was easy to grab and twist out. Off the lil fucker went...

awesome. i watched a guy have to tackle a seagull on a pier.

it took a village. people pounced with a blanket..that bird was not happy. it was cool, everyone joined in and helped. that bird wanted to EFF everyone up.

i had a seagull dive-bomb my sardine-colored yozuri in the surf once. ended up with a hook in this foot. i was fishing solo and he was snapping at me, so I had to pin him down with my boot to unhook his webbed foot.

Promised the lady I wouldn’t fish much this weekend while hiking some new spots up past auburn/forest hill, but couldn’t help myself. Took a couple of casts hoping to get into something.

Ended up with a decent keeper-sized rainbow on a ned:
