It would be night and day taking a deer out with a cart on a paved path. If I get one I will not hesitate to shoot two if I get the chance as long as I know the meat will go to a good home. Academy has them for like 65$ which would be with the saved time packing and quartering in the field. what kind of carts do yall use? any recommendations?

Oh yeah you got water in some, that sucks. How far do you have to walk from where you park to where you shimmy up a tree?

I hunt 30 or 40 different places. Some spots are a couple hundred yards and some are a mile. I never know where I'm going until I get there!

They are handy. Lately I’ve just quartering out and using my packs load shelf to haul out meat.

I wish I could do that. Where I’ll be hunting this next few weeks the mosquitoes, ticks, and chiggers will be horrible. So just unscented soap, no dyes, then coat everything in permethrin.

Missed a decent buck (for my area) this morning @ 9:15. Can call, grunted, then rattled him in. Underestimated the distance after stopping his fast walk with a grunt. shot under him, but at least it was a clean miss. First time with this Ravin crossbow - would have never even lifted my compound bow due to the distance....just like last year in the same spot. Still lots of leaves in the clearcut next to me and the wind wasn't helping much. May try again this afternoon.

Also, blew up the arrow, ruined the broadhead, and the lighted nock is ???? Roughly $45 dollars for one missed shot. Could be worse with Ravin braodheads, especialy the titanium ones - I think they are around $30 EACH.

I buried it in the dirt.....at the base of a 4" tree, so must have hit roots. Pulled out very easily. I have shot a few trees in the past with my compound bow and only ruined the broadheads, the arrows were fine. I think this crossbow has much more kinetic energy than my compound does.
