Exhibit A: the base around our fireplace.



I can't exactly blame the last owners since they didn't build this fireplace but they were filthy people and you wouldn't believe all the gunk we've pulled out of cracks around this place. This gap at the flooring was never filled in so naturally they've just swept everything into it.



I've tried vacuuming it out and been successful in a few places but today I've declared war. A flathead screwdriver, a pair of tweezers and a knife.

I will win.

It's so compacted into this tiny little crack it wasn't cutting it. I think after I get most of it out and broken up that it'll be easy to finish up.

I have found pens, screws, razor blades and cigarette butts in these cracks and that doesn't even begin to touch the amount of dog hair clogging it all.

Vacuum!!
