It's less Tacoma and more mod
You can pull the whole wiring snake out of the firewall in about 5mins. Makes it lift pretty high.

Thanks for the info. I pulled everything from a wrecked tacoma and plan to make it as OEM as possible. The wiring harness looks like a pita and would seriously consider an aftermarket alternative if it made the conversion easier.

So, here's details on the rear diff skid. Even though I won't run it all the time, I'm super glad I was able to pick one up while they were still available.

If you don't mind turning a valve you can just use a 3 way valve

Just make sure you get the vac canister, and a check valve otherwise it won't actuate at full throttle or when the engine is off

I finally got around to replacing the tired old original Tokico rear shocks w/Bilstein 4600's. I didn't need any additional lift (it's a TRD). While I was back there I inspected the rear axle for any leaking seals and checked the leaf springs. All are still in good shape for a vehicle with 190,190 miles (yes that's correct!). Now I just need to find a local shop that can swap out the fronts and switch the coil springs over, and perform an alignment when they're done.

PS: the old shocks were so shot that when I manually compressed them, one was slow to rebound, and the other didn't rebound at all. Lol.

Swapped in new front clamshell to match rear 4.56 gears - back to 4x4!

Few odds and ends while in there: Hose clamp ADD delete. Durobump diff bushings. New oil pan. Also took the chance to swap in OEM LCA's with energy suspension bushings.

Motor looks pretty clean to me at 258K.

I pulled the 4x4 parts from an 01 Tacoma so the ADD is all electronic. Thx for the info though!

Valve cover gaskets, plugs and wires. cleaned IAC and TB. Looks like I need a new TB or Maxbore. I think I have the dirtiest covers of all time.

Installed a soft topper before a long weekend in Mendocino NF. It's an excellent product. Looks better than a standard hard topper imo, adds minimal weight, holds up in high speed driving, was comfortable to sleep in, and easy to collapse in case you need to air out the bed because of hella dust... Next on the list will definitely be a tailgate seal.
