hmm... im probably the guy everyone hates. rigid fog pods (all the time) ultimate headlight mod (when needed) + substansial lifted truck. im amazed when i dont get flashed on my morning commute. but those that do see a diode dynamic solar flare.

I’ve got some squadron pros as my fogs and ran them for a day I got flashed and flipped off so many times so now they’re an off-road only light

different topic- recovery straps. is longer better? or strength rating and brand? im thinking of less conventional uses. like pulling trees down instead of pulling tacos out. but that too in future outings. feedback welcomed.

I have a rhino that i used to pull a tree off my house today. 20 ft 31k pound strap. sometimes its nice having a lot of length but sometimes it just make things harder. kinda just depends on the situation.

30ft. It's the strap I've used most. Can always make it shorter if needed but the extra length is nice for anchoring or towing a broke down rig.

I have gotten a couple 30 ft 10k lb rated in yellow, and used those for tree pulls. Get a 3/4 shackle to keep on one end full time and use that shackle to make a choker on the tree. Running one end through the eye of the other end, then tugging is a bad idea when you want to take stuff apart again. I get mine from a local chain in this area similar to Del's in Monroe. Feed/supply places seem to carry them. They generally run about $15-20 on special, more like $20-25 regular price.

There are also the white ones, which are stronger. They are about the same width as the yellow, but depth is more.

Also, be smart about tugging. Don't get a big running start, because tow straps aren't designed to stretch like kinetic ropes. They will act more like chains, and with enough running start, you can tear your truck apart.

    Wholeheartedly agree here.
In my truck, I have 3 chains full time, plus a 30 ft tow strap. My chains are various lengths, 2 have open hooks, and one has a binding hook. I get the right length for the job.

That sounds like personal experience, in a bad way.

I have gotten really creative. I have a tow strap that I put onto the tree to come down as high as I can get it. I then take a giant snatch block (it came from an old dozer), and put that into the bottom end of the tow strap. I then run braided steel cable from a hook on my truck through the snatch block, then to a chain or another strap around a tree somewhat in the same direction I want to pull the tree. This allowed me to get almost double the pulling force in on trees. The braided steel is long enough that I can get all the distance away from most trees.

    Define tie off point....

The "loop" on the drivers side isnt suitable except as a tie down point when transporting (ie on a car carrier or flatbed)

The "hook" is listed more for straight towing and no so much for actual recovery. Think more pulling the truck onto a flatbed or using a strap to pull along a dead truck. Could winch off it but I (personally) wouldnt do any "jerk" pulls to get unstuck while using it.
