Thats kinda the same response I got from SpeedGearBike when I messaged him, haha.

I just need to sack up and make a decision (story of my life).

To get the wheelset I'd need, I'll likely be waiting 4-5weeks. That route goes to a frame I've been jonesing on for a few years now, but requires some part changes due to varying specs and has me kind of relying on resale of other parts to help fund it (at least sell my current wheelset).
Looking at a couple other options that require little to no extra money as they aren't reliant on part swaps/resale, but their availability is still in the 4-5week range.

Yea for supply chain issues. Complaining about not having a bike for a few weeks...1st world problems

It's still not the exceptional engagement I've had with other hubs in the past, but It's definitely much better than the stock 18T and worth the money IMO. (The 18T was just terrible)

That’s a great setup. I was going to suggest the same thing but not the exact tabs you welded on. I like that, makes for even more room having the bikes outward of the rack. The Yakima Front Loaders are $200 ea. so I wasn’t sure if that was in his budget.

What frame are you thinking now? I haven't used the others, but I can recommend the Spanks. No regrets and I would do it the same way again.

I've looked/asked around and wasn't able to find any bumpers that come standard with the swing-out hitch. It wouldn't be hard to have someone weld a hitch receiver on to a swing-out though, just find your bumper of choice and ask them to weld on a receiver. Make sure the swing out is designed to carry that weight as well since 4 trail bikes would most definitely be >100lbs.

    Here's an example... https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/all-things-bikes-and-tacos.445155/page-836#post-23371766

my bike gets dinged heavily enough when i eat shit and it bounces off rocks and trees...the rack is the most gentle thing the bike experiences.
my buddy has a 2 place 1up, really nice rack if you're looking for that style.

    Yes sir.
    Maybe something like this
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/tepui-kukenam-3-w-bed-bars-and-bike-racks.687742/#post-24395816

Although it has been nice not having to lift the bikes up anymore now that it’s sold. Not sure what my plans are yet for camping in the future but it’s been easy just slapping the bike over the tailgate.

    Ignore the mess lol.
Idk why, but this bike rack has me stoked. No more throwing it in bed of truck or in trunk of the hatchback. Well as soon as I take the time to put my hitch on the TDI.

It’s all aluminum of course every bit, but hardware. This thing is heavy :curls:

Yes sir, it's actually two roof racks with the Superduty 2" receiver.
I called and the 1up crew was super nice, Chase credit card had a 5% cashback paypal offer so I figured that's the best deal I'll ever get on a 1up rack!

Lol, goes to show how builds vary. I gotta admit, the build I broke was stock with Novatec hubs. Still, I’d shell out for the DT rims.

Yup. Weld on some outriggers and mount a bike carrier on either side. Works great. 9926A54B-4550-47A4-8680-D3E7E6C89830.jpg

With the bike trays that carry the entire bike, does the front wheel get in the way of the rear doors opening? Would be nice to not have to pop the front wheels on and off.

With the Yakima Front Loader which is shown, you can slide the tray back far enough to avoid the doors. And yes, not taking the front wheel off is so much more convenient. Bike goes on in a minute and off just as fast. The front bar that the front tire goes in secures down to the front tire. That’s what secures the bike on. There’s also a strap that holds the rear wheel in the tray. Serious when I say a minute to two minutes tops loading or unloading.
