I have a very similar truck to Mike's AND just so happen to have a set of spacers on the shelf. I wonder if he would trade with me?

My buddy had a 3" spacer lift. I've never heard him complain. However, he doesn't offroad and just did it for looks. Are they OK for that? What is the main problem with them just a stiffer ride?

    Thanks.

    ok, let the:crapstorm: begin.....

i have a spacer lift on my 09 dc .ive had it for about 15000 miles. off roaded at the very least 2500 miles.
you can ask anyone who knows me, i dont take it easy. i drive over 5' high palmetto bushes, run trails at 40 mph, run over stumps, go through 4' deep washouts sideways, and lest me forget the mud.....
i am yet to have a problem with mine...
will i in the future? who knows? maybe.
what'll happen if something breaks? i'll fix it.

they may be cheap, the easy way out, or what ever other explative you may use. but they have worked for me so far.

some of us really cant afford to drop a grand or more on coilovers.
so yeah we spent the $100 on some spacers......

getting back to what the op said:
he is mostly right(about the spacers) they are ok to gain the little bit of lift to fit bigger tires....the best way? no. but they are ok.

and to the person who said what about the ome springs? how are they any better than spacers? they pretty much do the same thing(extend the strut so it pretty much sits at full extension) plus they also send you a 1/4 top plate space with them....

i will put myself and my truck up against anyone willing and we will see who comes out on top....
just come to the citrus meet Jan. 22 & 23rd I'll be there will you?

I think my next mod might be some hollow spacers. You know, cut some of that unnecessary weight from the lift. Save money on the lift and less weight= better gas mileage. It should still be able to handle "mild off-roading", no?

I would rather wheel a stock Tacoma than one with a spacer lift.

Same here. Granted it's just a 2" with a aal in the back but I'd still like to get something better down the road once the economy gets better around here. For right now it works as long as I take it easy.

    Then get OME and wheels/tires.

There's nothing wrong with maximizing the dollar value of your budget (i.e. buying the best bang for the buck), but spacers really have a hard hard time making sense in ANY context.

Well first these said companies limit any fault on their part by stating, and I quote directly from Skyjacker's website

" will not be held liable or responsible for damages or personal injuries resulting from the use of lifting devices and/or related products."

And for big stuff you use a Tundra?, those must be some brutal dirt roads, cause a tundra would be quite a large vehicle to drive off-road on most trails

You know what? I think you guys are all bastards!!! Wanna know why???? Just yesterday I convinced myself that I could go with a spacer lift for the next year or so before spending the cash on a suspension lift. Now I'm gonna end up spending more this year than I had planed on a suspension lift instead of a spacer lift!!!! You guys and this site are gonna put me in the poor house!!!

    Welcome to the club.

I was in the same boat as you and I ran top plate spacers for almost a year just to clear my new tires. I did NOT go off road at all until I got the money (sold my motorcycle) and redid my suspension the right way.

Haha might as well save up and do it right the first time, in the short run you would of spent less cause you didnt even spend the money on the spacer lift to start
