Softoppers and Ammo Cans

So I wanted to mount 2 ammo cans one on each side. (To the rear of the bed) The entire idea of this post is show how to clear the softopper clamps (extending out from the bed rails) and still mount ammo canss!

So I bought 2 ammo cans to mount in the bed rails. (forgetting I had a softopper frame to deal with on both sides.) Didn't want the ammo boxes towards the front as per the softopper access and I wanted it raised for camping leg room clearance too. Also didn't want to block the stock storage compartments. (Underneath) So here's what I came up with. Don't expect a lot of attention on this just thought I'd help out. If there's enough interest I'll post more details as requested.

 

Just what my next DIY project is......How is your setup holding up?

 

This thing is rock solid! If I may give you a couple of pointers!
1.) Use aluminum (easy to bend)
2.) Use rubber washers in tandem with your metal washers (I placed rubber washer on every mounting surface front and back and inside the ammo can too and even where it attaches to the bed rails)
3.) The bracket legs MUST be supported at the bottom (90 degree bend) where they sit in the molded cut out section of the bed!

Did you add any kind of rubber isolator on the bottom of the legs so that they don't wear on the composite bed?

I did not but this is a great idea. I have some rubberized molding with the "Sticky Backing". I'll definitely add this and thanks.
