Or can we get them to turn on with the DRLs (ambers) so they are on anytime that I have lights on

 

I put a switch that fit into an unused spot on the left side of the dash. You intercept a particular wire in the steering column run it to the switch and then run that to a ground. For the ground I used the fuse box bolt.

Originally I put in conventional fog lights that were just OK. A rock broke one of my fog lights. I replace them with the Toyota OEM LED fog lights and I really like them and strongly recommend them. I also replaced my low beam headlights with LED lights and it made a big improvement in being able to see the road at night.

If your SR is pre-wired for fog lights, this is the wire connector that fits into the wire connector for the fog light wiring you will find in front of your radiator.

I've seen a vid where a guy tappe into one of his drivers side drl wires and his worked fine. Dont recall the vid or the model, but it was an upper trim package. I didn't want to tap into factory wiring and the add a fuse was the easiest and cleanest way. I guess a switch in the cab would be the best way to gain full control.

 

There is a big thread on here about how led bulbs in a halogen projector housing is a bad idea. Measurements show that light output is actually worse when this is done and oncoming drivers are blinded. The LED also will not produce enough heat to melt ice and snow off of your lens in poor conditions. The light output of my stock SR lights was bad, so I feel your pain.Not telling you what to do, but if you are getting flashed after putting led bulbs into your halogen housings, this is why.

I actually was able to alleviate this by performing the factory adjustment.
You park in front of a garage door. Measure your beam along with the tiny divot in your headlight. Back away either 9ft or 25 ft. Take some more measurements and adjust accordingly. It was a pain and took a few tries. I dont recall the exact process, but this actually worked and helped me see down the road a great deal farther.

 

Here's my 09 AC SR with 75K miles on it. 4cyl 5spd. The basest of the base! It's our daily driver for the family, but most of our commuting is by bicycle, and I tend to take my collector plated (seriously) 1991 Tercel out as often as the truck. I'm going to put a Coastal offroad full undercarriage skid plate package on it, as well as get some Bilstein 5100's up front to raise it a bit.
I'll probably get a hidden 2" receiver for the front to hide behind the bumper, as i want to be able to convert the truck from city use to adventure rig, but not be stuck dragging around 300lbs of winch, LT tires, and armour that will not be used in the city.
I have 2 sets of wheels for the truck-one set is some alloy rims with General Grabber HT's, and the other is the stock steelies with BFG KO's. Both are 245/75 16's.
The former set of wheels and tires is 18 lbs per corner lighter and it makes a world of difference in unsprung weight. Fuel economy and drivability is much improved. For those of you considering going bigger with your tires with the 2.7, I would seriously reconsider questioning why you would want to, or at least keep 2 sets of wheels. I have considered getting a set of LT 215/85's, but they are pricey. They would be a good blend of durability and lighter weight, plus I love the way skinny tires look on trucks.
I've added airbag suspension which is necessary when loading the truck with gravel or using the hitch mounted motorcycle carrier. Modified the rear seat to be able to mount a forward facing car seat as well.



I'm pretty happy with the truck. I'd love a back up camera, as my tailgate has one, but apart from that, maybe the keyless remote and sliding rear window?
Anyway, the truck gets used for truck stuff, but I try and keep it clean and well cared for. There are 2 dents, one from the PO and one caused by me resting 16' lumber on the back of the cab, that I would like to get fixed.

 

what’s your motorcycle/hitch carrier setup and does it work well enough for you?

 

I'm using a Curt trailer hitch and I have a steel carrier that I bought off Craigslist. I am very comfortable driving across province (500 miles) with the 350 lb's of Wr250r and assorted farkles hanging out the rear. The suspension airbags have made all the difference in levelling the ride, otherwise it gets quite wallowy and the front wanders, as well as the fact that the carrier is much more likely to ground out when loading and unloading from a ferry at low or high tide. It costs the same to drive on the ferry with the carrier on, so I try and load as much stuff on the truck for the journey! You can't see it, but there were enough tools and living supplies in the tall canopy to have me finish off the interior of my house from lock up to near completion while also living essentially out of the truck.

2021 SR 4WD, installed the Toytec coilovers and shocks with a 1” block this weekend. It’s about a 2/1” lift.

Got some SCS SR8 16x8 wheels, looking at tires now. I should put 265/75/16’s on there, but....those 285’s keep whispering to me : )

Which fog lights do you guys recommend?(other than OEM) looking for affordable but not trash.

 

Diode Dynamics SS3's are a great value.

 

Before & after. Added OEM mudflaps & cast aluminum running boards + an Extang bed cover. Hadn't any issue getting in the truck before adding the running boards & they initially actually impeded access. Used to them now & I like how they complement the SX look. Wanted them for rocker protection from rain/snow/salt.

One of the things I dislike about our tacos is that they don’t come with puddle lights, so I ended up getting some cheap Led rock lights and wire them to the bed lights and boom Puddle lights

 

Dealer supplied & installed them as part of the negotiations.
