I hear what you're saying but I think you may be wrong. Its been 4 years and aside from C4 I don't know of anybody who has attempted to incorporate BSM into their bumpers. Lots of bumpers seem to be getting sold. This is a generalization but I think most guys that are willing to hack up their bedside to fit a HC bumper probably don't care too much about loosing BSM, aside from the fact they've paid for it. I think the main deterrents are probably dealing with the headache of customer service in regards to getting it to work properly/safely and fear of some crazy liability lawsuit if the BSM malfunctions in somebodies bumper and ends in a casualty or maimed person.

Edit: Hopefully somebody does figure it out though!

I've got it figured out I just haven't had time to implement...

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/bumper-keep-my-bsm.629204/

Edit: page 3 is my solution w/ very crude example/proof of concept.

I'm also relatively certain it's a more complicated problem than just getting any aftermarket steel bumper and cutting a hole. Else C4's solution would have worked. Edit2: I'm talking vibrational issues with sensor alignment. Attaching to steel VS plastic bumper will affect this.

Cool. Thanks for the info. Hope it works, I'll buy one.

Where'd you get the photo? Couldn't find on their website. I spent more time than I'd like to admit riding in the back of my bed holding various metal things in front of the sensors trying to find the sensor sensitivity area. (turns out, can't get the mirror light to turn on by driving around in a parking lot holding axes and shovels and other various things near a sensor....)

What makes the most sense is just mounting cameras, in let's say the side view mirrors, that activate when initiating the turn signal to show a picture in your center console screen of your blind spot. Messo or somebody like that should make one.

Fords BSM system is in their tail lights. Fingers crossed Toyota moves in that direction next

Personally I really wanted to keep BSM support for my truck. After a lot research I purchased the C4 Fabrication BSM bumper (which is no longer available). The C4 bumper sensor placement/angle was a lot closer to the OEM placement/angle than the steelcraft bumper you linked. However, the C4 bumper still had issues with false detections. I eventually just gave up on BSM support, kind of forcefully after my C4 bumper was replaced. Now I don't have to do with false detections and annoying beeping when I back up. My 2 cents is if you want an aftermarket bumper you simply have to part with BSM functionality. It may work in the steelcraft bumper but it's performance won't align with OEM performance, especially with the different angle of the sensor.

This is the first I've seen of this bumper, and it looks like it could be a solid option if the BSM works properly. I actually like how it incorporates the OEM tow hitch for rating purposes, and I like the subtle logo. Did you happen to inquire about a price, or dealer? Edit: $589 found here w/ free shipping. :notsure: This place says $435, but does not support BSM and needs a loading dock.. :ohsnap:

It was $600 the couple of places I checked. And I agree about the hitch. I emailed the manufacturer to see what kind of testing has been done with BSM.

Maybe you can ask if they specify a light brand for the cutouts too? I called Hendry's to inquire about their $435 price. I'll post up if they get back to me... :hungry:

Yeah let us know. From Steelcraft:

"We have been mass producing this item for months and have not had any issues with the BSM."

I just read their description and they have a *disclaimer that it does not accommodate BSM and cross traffic alert. o_O

Yeah, I checked with Buddy at Hendry's, and that's a typo. The part number is the same as the manufacture's website here, "Accommodates blind spot monitor"

They actually supply a cover plate for those who don't have BSM... Instructions are attached to post #112. I spoke with a nice lady at Steelcraft, and she confirmed they haven't had any complaints about the BSM, and the bumper was released 4 months ago...
