Inside panel is a 12 spot panel that’s full of 20 amp breakers, I think there’s one empty spot. I have to have a main disconnect so I don’t backfeed the grid when running the generator though, I don’t want to pull the meter to keep that from happening, and it’s not really a feasible distance/location tie the generator into the interior panel.

    What feeds the inside panel?

From what I can tell it’s the second breaker down on the left, a double 60.
When I get home tonight I can check and make sure that shuts off the inside.

That's some weird set-up. I don't know if that's code there or what. Here in PA, we take entrance cable directly from the meter into a panel. My panel has 40 spots with 200A service.

One of my coworkers used to be an electrician out at the space center and it blew his mind that we don’t have a 200 amp breaker at the top for a disconnect and from what I can tell code requires a disconnect, I’m not a fan of not having a disconnect so we’re planning on adding one.
The last house we owned the meter was outside and wires ran from a disconnect switch below the meter through the wall and into a 30+ breaker box in the laundry room and power was distributed from there.

That is directly underneath the meter, the middle left breaker supplies power to an interior panel that has individual room breakers.

Aside from your major appliances, the entire house is on a 60A breaker.

Each half of the house gets a 60 amp breaker since the breaker under the meter is a double 60. The interior panel is 110 only.

Yep, so if one side goes over 60 you lose both sides.

Yep, technically if I pull more than 48 amps on just one side it *should* pop.

80% is what we designed for at my last job but it should still be able to run up to the full 60.

I was under the impression that if you pulled more than 80% of the capacity for longer than 30 seconds the breakers were designed to pop, I must be mistaken though.

Whats with American houses having the breaker panels on the outside of the building ? My BIL's house in Vegas was the same way

Here in California they make it outside mainly as an emergency shut off. If there’s a fire or something blows up in the house somehow the PD of FD can just shut power off with just a flip of a breaker. There’s tons of rules about access and all that BS for them so it’s a safety thing

my house was built in 1972 in CA and it only has the main ground feed outside. Not individual breakers like an interior panel like that guy has. Ive not seen a panel around me that looks like that on the exterior.
