Tell you what.. I'll stop pushing nonsense about terrible shifting slushbox 3rd gens as soon as you stop pushing nonsense about the complaints being the product of a few whiners.

Hahaha! That doesn't surprise me at all... Sorry, dude, but I won't stop saying anything about the complaints being in the minority, because overall, they are... But I'll tell you what; you can keep making ignorant statements about what you think you may know about the AT's shifting, & I'll keep calling you on you're falsely implied bullshit. Now, I know that's not what you were hoping for, but that's all you're going to get from me.

He'll smooth out eventually. Not everyone has had that first issue to knock the shine of their new truck.

No... & the only thing being criticized is the spreading of false information which spawns ignorance... but you've been clueless to the entire conversation since the last time that you attempted to join in, so I wouldn't expect you to understand... & learn to use the "quote" function. My god, man.

Hahaha! I'll be the first to let you know... as long as you don't make it out to be a widespread problem. :D

I can repost the list of TSBs if you like... including the one for 19's and 20's. It's right there in black and white for you to ponder.
    It's not my bullshit, it's Toyota's.
Lol, but keep trying the attacks, they are at least entertaining. Not my first TW rodeo hoss ;)

    You guys recall 'ol zyborg?

This guy reminds me of him, but in a passive aggressive kinda way.

    Same gaslighting, just toned down.

I haven't been on here long enough to know "cyborg" but Sparky (DWD484) is a very depressed person.

I don’t understand why he’s even in all the manual threads? I don’t patrol or comment in the AT threads and could care less about their transmission issues. Maybe it’s insecurity :notsure:

tell you what. i would have rather drive that old, beat up deuce-and-a-half with the manual trans that we got as a hold over during my first deployment than the lmtvs and mtvs that we brought over lol. good times.

Basically a personal preference. This is my 9th manual transmission vehicle in a row which has to be a record somewhere this day in age? Anyhow I had a 2013 Tacoma X-runner that could rip but wasn’t very family friendly. 2016 off-road with the 4.30 gears is pretty sweet especially because I can get into 6th gear no problem running 33’s. Manual trannys till I die or they take my license

I’ve been working on cars for a bit now and as a licensed automotive-tech I drive & work on vehicles for a living. First car I bought after driving my parent’s vehicles was a E30 325i (89 3 series) m/t 4 door. After I went to my 01 Ranger edge 2 dr a/t that went past 300k km (owned it since 185k) but I felt like that transmission could blow any time I hit the throttle too hard lol, then onto a 02 corolla a/t and that girl was bullet proof and the engine would live well past the body if I kept it. When I owned a/t vehicles it was just, green light go, red light stop, no real driver input, no thought behind anything but stop and go. No real fun behind those drives unless it’s slick or snowy roads so you can get some slippage. In a manual transmission it’s all driver input. I did a test drive with a 19 DCSB Taco a/t with 265/75r16 KO2’s and on the highway, the truck didn’t know if it wanted to be in 5th or 6th gear, so that further solidified my choice in buying a new one that was stick. In a manual transmission I decide what gear I want to be in. Not what gear the truck/transmission/control units thinks I should be in. So after being a tech and driving vehicles for a living for over 10 years I still find driving stick fun @DWD484, but to each their own, whatever floats your boat, whatever tickles your fancy. No hate here man, we all own and hopefully love our Tacos. Save the hate for the Ridgelines lol :fistbump::drunk:

Not to mention manual transmissions are generally easier/cheaper to repair than automatics

*EDIT* Holy f:censored:c, didn’t realize I made that a novel lmao :rasta:

If you think getting a Manual in a Tacoma is silly... imagine what a BMW dealer thinks when someone gets something like a M3 in manual. “Yes I want this fast car , but not too fast , give me the slower version of the fastest car please”.

Seriously tho, manual is probably more fun for most "normal" conditions.

One thing I haven't seen talked about is the very high chance of ruining clutches or not being able to shift when really abusing the truck hard off road. If you have ever taken the truck out in dunes and tried to keep your speed up you will know the only way to not lose momentum is to slam shift it. Also when your tires are getting air and landing over and over (skipping through a whoop section) your clutch is taking a lot of that load as opposed to fluid / torque converter. Also imagine shifting while bouncing around in the seat. I'm not sayin you can't drive the shit out of a manual off road, just dont think it will "outlive" an auto. I guess for grandpa style overlanding or "wheelin" I think the manual will be zero issue. But once you start treating the truck like an unwanted stepchild you will see how bad/lame the manual might be. It can be done...but why?

I can bump start it if the battery goes flat. And call me crazy, but as every clutch is a little different, I like the idea of “learning” vehicles.
