Just bought a slightly used 2020 TRD Off Road X Series, coming from a 2015 F-150.

The backup camera has the blue and red boxes, but not the yellow lines that change with turning the wheels. Really miss that feature from my Ford and my brother has a 2020 TRD Off Road that has it, though he had a tech package and maybe more that mine didn’t.

Can someone tell me if this is a feature of the camera (or the others that are used for the 360), or if it could be added by means of a head unit upgrade or the like?

Did some googling and noticed some have to be calibrated and display a yellow “!” in the top left, enabling those dynamic grid lines. I don’t have that “!” and tried turning the wheel to both stops to no avail so I’m guessing no dice for that feature.

Do you have rear park sensors or BSM? I believe that is the only way you can get the "!" to show up.

You have the panorama camera's then? On mine there is an onscreen button in the lower middle of the screen that changes that setting. If I recall there are 3 modes, projected course / dynamic lines, parking guide lines, and, distance guide lines.

I have neither the panoramic cameras nor the rear parking sensors. My camera view does not have the modes buttons.

Touché. Not only do I have mirrors, the objects in them are apparently closer than they appear.

Call me Old School, but I've yet to use the back up camera for anything other than 'Oh hey! Look what this does!' kinda' thing...
Nothing replaces the 'Turning Around and Looking Over Yer Shoulder' method. As it should be. ;)

Until a kid walks behind your truck. You can look over your shoulder as much as you want, it's not safer than having a camera that covers the blind spots behind the truck.

Also the audio tones alerting driver of moving objects behind you. That's a major plus!

I have the parking sensors on my other cars, not on my Tacoma. I miss having those, they help a lot while looking at the front while trying to back up. You know how close you are to hitting anything behind you while you're trying to maneuver the front end.

I grew up in the era of 'Seat-belts? What are those?' And my dad used to pile 10 neighborhood kids in the bed of his 66' Dodge D-200 to take them all to the Saturday Matinee movies. Untetherd. Jumping around like a bunch of screaming monkeys .. (We were)
Never once lost a single kid. Ever. Nobody ever ONCE ran over some kid backing up out of the driveway..And we used to drink water out of the garden hose.

I'd love for you to tell that nostalgic story to all of the parents who have lost children due to them being accidentally backed over. There's a reason back up cameras were Federally mandated in all newer cars from 2018 on. It's not for your safety, it's for the little ones of the world.

Only aesthetic mods so far Leer 180 cap & Clazzio covers on order.
I installed a trailer hitch cam on my '06 Taco - helps immensely in getting the ball directly under the hitch. Can sometimes help when backing into a parking spot. Other than those examples, mirrors count most, and are what I use most.

Both have become important. (looking 'round AND using the cameras / sensors) particularly in larger vehicles. Just feel much better being able to use all the tools available... Better safe...

While I certainly appreciate the walking uphill in the snow (both ways) stories, the question remains...

Could this feature (whether or not you personally find it useful) be added by a HU upgrade (or some other method) or is it dependent upon the panorama cameras and/or parking sensors?

My Ford certainly didn’t have panorama cameras, just the one in the tailgate, but it had the dynamic gridlines.
