I got a CF hood with the front hood pins in the exact same spot, just made sense. I haven't noticed any cracks like yours got but mannnn does the hood love to move on the highway. I have yet to do any experimenting to find a cure but it's somewhere in the plans to do so. I think the space in the front of the engine + the fan creates a big high pressure zone so the lift of the wind going over the hood is enough to make it float a little. My best guess is a vent in the hood over that space like it's common to see on rx7s or the group b quattro because there's plenty of space for air to get in the front through the grill but not much ways to get out with how flat the firewall is.

The tinkering always continues. Some stuff just isn't as worthy as others.

Need to make a some another passenger header, and then the exhaust portion of the last turbo kit will be up for sale.

One step for my installation, was once I placed the pins where I wanted them, I put a little grease on the top center of the pins. Then touched the hood down onto the pins, to transfer the grease. The drill at the grease.

Yep.. I missed that step and had to move where my pins to a less than desirable spot...

My pins have flexed that upper support enough that it's cracked and the pins aren't doing much. Soon enough I plan to weld it back together and add some extra support.

Added support was my reasoning for installing them through the headlight mounting hole. 6 to 8 years before noticing this problem is pretty dang good, considering that metal is around 18 gauge.

I wanted to add some metal underneath for extra strength. Wasn't about to pull the entire core support out. So a clamped a washer underneath, and welded it through the top. Need to do the other side now.
