Anyone happen to know what wire I can tap into on the radio for remote turn on for an amp? It’s for a 2020 SR5 without JBL.

I am not looking to tap into something like the cigarette lighter; I’d like the amp to only come on when the radio turns on.

I don’t know, maybe my audio Shop was lazy and wanted to do easy work.
Audio Shop told me i need that when I installed my amp and it was working perfect until i sold the truck.

Gotcha. I’m sure there was some logic to it. I just dint think I need it for my amp. My amp should turn on using either the blue remote wire or the high level speaker wires. The speaker wire portion isn’t working though.

    Probably just a defective unit.

Thank you for your input though!

Could have been because you were using the factory lines to get SOUND...and you amp needed RCA input, not speaker level input. That would actually make sense in your case.
However, I’m referring to getting “power” to the unit so it knows when to turn on, not getting sound to it

its actually not just for sound, it sends a signal to amp to turn on and off as well

Ahhhhh. I gotcha. In all honesty I’m not familiar with LOCs so it doesn’t surprise me I didn’t know that. Haha

You can google it and see how it work, you will be happy with it and you don't have to mess with your head unit wires at all

I’ve got a harness I’m using so that I’m not tapping into my factory harnesses. That’s why I’m so dead set on getting the amp to work using the speaker level turn on. Lol

Unfortunately the OP's radio version does not have an output to wake-up an added amp.

Well crap. Definitely not what I was hoping to hear.
I guess the next option would just be to use any ignition source (cigarette outlet as an example)?

If you did that, then the amp wake-up would be anytime the vehicle is ON (or key in ACC mode). Not what your looking for.

Agreed. That’s why I had originally tried to stay away from it. Any other options you can think of?

Let me elaborate on my issue. I am using a Kicker Hideaway sub and it is working fine. Turns on with the high level speaker inputs. However, it makes a weird clicking noise at low levels. So I ordered a replacement for it. When I plug in the replacement using that same harness (haven’t moved it or rewired it or anything) it does not turn on the amp. I’ve confirmed I have the switches on the new one set correctly (DC turn on and High level input). The new Hideaway does power on when I take it and hook it up directly to the battery though (power and remote line directly to positive and ground to negative).

    Any ideas?

Something similar to that LOC that was suggested, just cheaper...:(

    Haha. Gotcha.

I ordered (another) replacement. It should be here tomorrow. Hopefully that one turns on with the speaker level inputs. If not, I’m just gonna stick to my original one that makes the clicking noise. I’ll get an extended warranty on it though so if it dies in a year I’m still covered.

Thanks a ton for your input though! Much appreciated!
